Meet the candidate: Ballymahon Municipal District Pat O'Toole (Fianna Fáil)

Name: Pat O'Toole
Party: Fianna Fáil
Address: Cloncallow, Ballymahon
Occupation: Public Representative

I have decided to stand for re-election in order to continue to serve the people of Ballymahon/Forgney and its environs as I have done for the past 5 years with the voice of experience, knowledge and common sense.

I am campaigning to work with Longford County Council on the following,

1. Build in the region of 25/30 houses of an affordable, social and older person mix similar to the scheme recently completed in Lanesboro.

2. The provision of an industrial park in Ballymahon as quickly as possible to accommodate the number of new businesses who wish to locate in the town, this project to be undertaken in conjunction with Ballymahon Traders Association and Ballymahon Town Team.

3. As the sewerage system is at maximum capacity I have commenced negotiations with Irish Water for an upgrade and expansion of the current plant on the Thomond Road, while also seeking a site to relocate Ballymahon Fire Station.

4. With the commencement of an off-street car park imminent in the centre of town, I will work with the Town Team on an application under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2019/20 for funding to undertake phase 2 of this most essential development.

5. Working with Longford County Council and Gas Networks Ireland to extend the natural gas pipeline from the Athlone Road junction up the Main Street to the Moigh Road.
