Pat Lennon, Aughnavalley, Colehill, Co Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, following a short illness, in the excellent, loving care of all the staff at Laurel Lodge, Longford, on Friday, February 4, 2022 of Pat Lennon, Aughnavalley, Colehill, Co Longford.
Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Annie and most recently by his beloved brother Michael. Devoted and loving father to his heartbroken children Susie, Brendan, Rory and Sylvia. Adored grandfather to Oisin, Anny, Patrick, Cormac, Niamh, Vincent and Ciarán. Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters Jimmy, Johnny, Joe, Mary and Annah (Greene). Pat is deeply regretted by his son-in-law Liam, his much loved nephews, nieces, relatives and dear friends. Pat's family would like to sincerely thank the staff in Laurel Lodge for their devotion and kindness to Pat during his short illness. The family very much appreciates your support and consideration at this time.
A private cremation ceremony will take place for Pat, in line with his wishes. House private please.

Maureen Dolan, Fee Court and formerly of Great Water Street, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 of Maureen Dolan, Fee Court and late of Great Water Street, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her parents Patrick (Pat) and Elizabeth and by her sister Nora. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Aédan, son Conor, sisters Breege, Betty (Farrelly) and Cathy, brother Padraig, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral home, Ballinalee Road on Friday, February 4 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7.00pm (walk through only). Mass of the Resurrection at 11am on Saturday, February 5 in St Mel’s Cathedral, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium at 1.30pm. The mass will be streamed live click here

Mary Williamite, Haan, Germany, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in Germany, on Thursday, January 27, 2022 of Mary Williamite, Haan, Germany and formerly of 4 Bannon Terrace. Longford. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Hans.
Mary will be forever missed by her family and friends, son Thomas, daughter-in-law Mareike, treasured grandchildren Jonas and Marlene, nephews, cousins and by her many dear friends here in Longford and Germany. As you were, you will always be treasured forever in our memory. Rest in Peace.
Mary's funeral took place in Haan, Germany, on February 2.

Eithne Gillooly, Kilronan, Inishmore, Aran Islands, Galway / Granard, Longford / Greystones, Wicklow


The death occurred, peacefully after a long illness extremely bravely borne on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 of Eithne Gillooly of Kilronan, Inishmore, Aron Island, Co Galway, formerly Granard, Co Longford, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo & Greystones, Co Wicklow.  Daughter of the late Cecil Gillooly. Remembered with love by her loving family, sons Aodán & Cian, mother Caro (née Hick), siblings Kevin, Sheila & Aideen, devoted partner Donal & his daughters Elizabeth & Michelle & all the extended Sands family, sister-in-law Yvonne, brother-in-law Bart, niece Aideen, nephews Paul & James, aunts, uncles especially Rev. Fr Reggie Gillooly C.S.Sp. cousins, extended family & wide circle of friends.
Reposing in Áras Naofa in the grounds of St Oliver Plunkett Church, Renmore, Galway, from 6.30pm on Friday evening, February 4. Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 5 at 2pm in the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones, Co Wicklow. James (Jim) Groarke, Magdelene Court, Kells, Meath / Ballymahon, Co Longford
The death occurred, suddenly, but peacefully at his residence, on Sunday, January 30, 2022 of James (Jim) Groarke, Magdelene Court, Kells, Meath and formerly Ballymahon Co. Longford.
Predeceased by his parents James & Mary, brother John (Oristown) and sister Kathleen (UK). James will be very sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Betty, niece Caroline (UK), nephews John, James, Paul, relatives, good neighbours and friends. May James Rest in Peace.
Reposing at St Joseph's Chapel of Rest Old Johnstown, Navan (C15 C425) on Friday, February 4 from 4pm followed by removal at 6pm to arrive at St. Catherine’s Church Oristown for 7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, February 5 at 9:30am. Burial afterwards in Martyr Cemetery.

Marcella Murrin (née Kelly), Gorvagh, Leitrim / Cloone, Leitrim / Merrion, Dublin


The death occurred, peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at Lough Erril Private Nursing Home, Mohill, Co. Leitrim, on Thursday, February 3, 2022 of  Marcella Murrin (née Kelly) Merrion, Dublin 4 and formerly of Adoon, Cloone, Co. Leitrim. Beloved wife of Henry, adored mother of Helena and Celine and sister of Sean, Mel, Helen, Peter Mary, Chris and the late Paddy.
Sadly missed by her treasured grandchildren; Matthew, Ed and Beth Forbes, sons-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends. May Marcella Rest in Peace.
Reposing at her home in Adoon School House, Adoon, Gorvagh, Co. Leitrim (N41 PW40) on Friday, February 4 from 4pm to 8pm. The death occurred, peacefully at Ballinamore Nursing Unit, on Friday, February 4, 2022 of Anne Marie O'Connor, Lahard, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ray, her son Shane, her daughter Megan, her daughter-in-law Rosie and her adored grandchildren Tyler and Skye. Also by her parents Tony & Joan Gallagher, brothers, Pádraic, Alan, Oliver, Shane & Tony, sisters Maria & Siobhán, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Reposing at Smith's Funeral Home, High St. Ballinamore (N41 TD62) on Saturday evening, February 5 from 4pm until 6pm. The death occurred, suddenly at Sligo University Hospital in her 87th year, on Thursday, February 3, 2022 of Moira Tiernan née McHugh, Annaghmaconway, Cloone, Co Leitrim.
Predeceased by her husband Tommy, sisters; Maggie and Lizzie and her brother Sean. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons and daughters, Eileen, Carmel (Henehan), Seamus, Philomena (Jacques), Dermot and Mary, daughters-in-law; Dolores and Olivia, sons-in-law; Michael, Ray and Kevin, her brother; Pee McHugh, grandchildren, sisters-in-law Alice and Rose nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends. May Moira’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.
Moira will repose at the residence of her son Seamus and daughter-in-law Dolores in Annaghmaconway, Cloone (N41 KV62) on Saturday, February 5 from 2pm – 5pm. The death occurred on Saturday, January 29, 2022 of Loreta Comaskey, 78 Landsdown Village, Newbridge Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin 4 and late Cloncovid, Kilcogy, Co. Cavan Predeceased by her brothers J. P. and Benny sisters Mary and Kathleen. Loreta will be sadly missed by her sisters Theresa, Carmel and Bernadette, brothers Eamon and Thomas. May she rest in peace.

Francis Anthony (Tony) Carolan, Cloonmacart, Drumlish, Longford


The death occurred, unexpectedly at Hillingdon Hospital, London, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 of Francis Anthony (Tony) Carolan, formerly of Cloonmacart, Drumlish, Longford.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret. He will be sadly missed by his three children Fiona, Annette, Anthony, his grandchildren Frankie, Christopher, Kerrie, Alfie, Grace, Hannah, great grandchildren, brothers, sister, relatives and many friends. He was loved by many, May he Rest in Peace.
The funeral will be arriving at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hayes, for mass at 12 noon on Friday, February 18. Burial afterwards will be at Kensal Green Cemetery, 2pm.

Kevin Quinn, England / Newtownforbes, Longford
The death occurred, in England, on Monday, January 17, 2022 of Kevin Quinn, England and formerly of Kilnashee, Longford, and 6 Castle Gardens, Newtownforbes, Co Longford.
He is predeceased by his father Henry and brother Conny. Kevin will be forever missed by his family, wife Susan, mother Nan, brothers Michael, Sean and Henry, sisters Elizabeth, Mary and Ann, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends here in Ireland and England. Close to our hearts you will always stay, Loved and remembered every day. Rest in Peace Kevin.
Cremation Service will take place on February 18, 2022 in England. A Memorial Service will take place in St Mary's Church, Newtownforbes, Co Longford, at a later date.

Kevin Dowd, Mullahoran, Cavan


The death occurred, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, January 13, 2022 of Kevin Dowd, London and formerly of Loughduff, Mullahoran, Co Cavan. Sadly missed by his wife Breda, children; John, Sheena, Ciara and Kevin, grandchildren; Jack and Ava, daughter-in- law Katie, sons in law; Tim and Aaron, brother John, nieces, nephews and extended family. Rest in Peace.
