Deaths in Longford - Thursday, May 2, 2019 - evening

John Gerard Victory, Bracklin, Mostrim, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 1 of John Gerard Victory, Bracklin, Mostrim, Longford. Predeceased by his father Tommy, mother Gretta and beloved brother Michael. Beloved husband of Therese (nee Hanley), father of Gerard, Michael, Maria and Shane, daughter-in-law Fiona and grandson Seán. Brother to Mary Briody, Margaret O'Halloran, Jo Power, Bridget Moran, Teresa Farrell, James and Thomas. Sadly missed by his relatives and many friends. Rest In Peace.
Reposing at Our Lady's Manor chapel Edgeworthstown on Friday evening, May 3 from 4pm with prayers at 7pm followed by removal to St Mary's Church, Edgeworthstown. Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 4 at 12 noon, followed by family cremation. Family flowers only please, donations to Longford Hospice greatly appreciated. House strictly private please.

Maureen Connell (née Bohan), Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully, in her 76th year at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, following a short illness bravely borne, on Wednesday, May 1 of Maureen Connell (nee Bohan), Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Longford.
Beloved wife of John, Mother of Sheila (Corrigan), Eamon, Gerard, Dessie, Seamus, Deidre (Harte), Ann (Regan), Noel, Marie & Nigel, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and her 22 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild, also her brother Desmond Bohan, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.
Funeral Mass on Friday, May 3 in Patrick's Church, Ballinamuck at 12 noon followed by burial in Ballinamuck New Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to St Christopher's Longford or the Mater Hospital Foundation, c/o Peter Dillon, Funeral Director.

Catherine (Josie) O'Rourke (née O'Reilly), No 1 Church Hill, Granard, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully at Mullingar General Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, April 30 of Catherine (Josie) O'Rourke (nee O'Reilly), No 1 Church Hill, Granard, Longford.
Predeceased by her husband Joseph, son Eamon, brother’s Micheál and Edward. Sadly missed and always remembered by her loving family, sons Kevin and Vincent, daughters Eileen and Joanne, daughters in law, Eileen’s partner Paul, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. May She Rest In Peace.
Funeral Mass on Friday, May 3 at 11am in St Mary’s Church Granard followed by interment in Granardkill Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if desired to St Christopher’s, Longford c/o Smith’s Funeral Directors, Granard, or any family member.


Jimmy Higgins, Breaney, Ardagh, Longford


The death occurred, suddenly, at Thomond Lodge Retirement Village, Ballymahon, on Tuesday, April 30 of Jimmy Higgins, Breaney, Ardagh, Longford.
Predeceased by his brother Tom. Sadly missed by his loving sister Mary (Buckinghamshire), and his brothers Peter (Mullingar), Pat (Lanesboro), Joe (Surrey), and Eugene (Mullingar), his much loved niece Melissa, nieces and nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.
Removal on Friday morning, May 3 to St Brigid's Church, Ardagh, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The death occurred, suddenly, at his home, on Thursday, April 25 of Sergejs Trubacovs, No 8 Mary's Street, Drumlish, Longford.
Sergejs will be forever missed by his mother, relatives, neighbours and his friends here in Ireland and Latvia. Rest In Peace. Dusi Saldi Sergejs.

The death occurred, peacefully, in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff in Arus Carolan, Mohill, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 2 of Sean McWeeney, Drimna, Gorvagh, PO Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his wife Ciss. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving daughter Martina Rynn (Nee McWeeney) Arigna, son Raymond (Ray) Gorvagh, son-in-law Michael, daughter-in-law Bridin, grandchildren James, Brendan, Amy, Tom, Jack, Patrick and Ciaran, sister Maisie Bohan (Cloone), brother-in-law Ben McKeon, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest In Peace.
Reposing at Arus Carolan Oratory, Mohill on Friday evening, May 3 from 3pm until 5pm with removal to St Joseph’s Church, Gorvagh arriving at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 4 at 12 noon with funeral afterwards to Fenagh Abbey Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if so desired, to Arus Carolan Patient Comfort Fund, Mohill.

Florence (Flora) Keegan, Church Lane, Carrigallen, Leitrim / Cloone, Leitrim
The death occurred, suddenly, at her residence, on Monday, April 29 of Florence (Flora) Keegan, Church Lane, Carrigallen, Leitrim / Cloone, Leitrim. Predeceased by her parents Margaret Josephine and James. May Flora Rest in Peace.
Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sister; Suzanne and brother; Fred, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. Remains to arrive at St Mary's Church, Cloone, on Friday, May 3 for funeral Mass at 11am followed by cremation to Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.
