Deaths in Longford - Thursday, February 22, 2018 - afternoon

Mary Duffy, Phibsboro, Dublin / Ballinamuck, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully, in her 92nd year, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar and in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and staff of the Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford, on Tuesday, February 20 of Mary Duffy, Phibsboro, Dublin, formerly of Lettergullion, Ballinamuck. Predeceased by her parents Mary Jane and Patrick and her brother Pakie. Sadly missed by her sisters Betty (England), Anna (U.S.), Eileen (Ballinasloe) and Sr Kathleen (Drumlish) her brothers John and Tom (Lettergullion) nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, extended family and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
Reposing at the Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Thursday, February 22 from 3 - 5pm with removal to St Patrick's Church, Ballinamuck, arriving at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, February 23 at 12 noon, followed by burial in Kilmahon Cemetery. Family flowers only.

Henry Hamilton, Cranleybeg, Edgeworthstown, Longford / North Circular Road, Dublin
The death occurred on Tuesday, February 20 of Henry Hamilton. Henry worked in Dublin for most of his life and came originally from Cranleybeg, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford. He died peacefully in the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Predeceased by his brother Willy. Deeply regretted by his sisters Letitia and Elizabeth, nephews, nieces relatives and friends. Peace Perfect Peace.
Reposing at Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown, on Friday, February 23 from 12.30pm with Service at 2pm and burial afterwards in St Patrick's Churchyard, Granard.

Veronica Reilly (née Mulligan), Tully, Coolarty, Longford
The death occurred on Tuesday, February 20 of Veronica Reilly (nee Mulligan), Tully, Coolarty, Longford and formerly of Derrycassin, Mullinalaghta, peacefully at Mullingar Regional Hospital.
Beloved wife of Tony. Loving mother of John Joe, Martin, Pauric, Geraldine and Damien. Sister of Anne (Dorset) and Pat (London). Sadly missed by her daughters in law, son in law, grandchildren, brother in law, sister in law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. May She Rest In Peace.
Reposing at her residence on Thursday, February 22 from 2pm to 4pm. House private at all other times. Removal on Thursday, February 22 to St Mary's Church, Granard arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, February 23 at 11am followed by burial in Granardkill Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired in lieu to palliative care, c/o Smiths Funeral Directors Granard or any family member.

Bernie Ward (née Treacy), Drum and formerly Wards Bar, Baylough, Athlone, Roscommon / Athlone, Westmeath


The death occurred on Wednesday, February 21 of Bernie Ward (nee Treacy), Drum and formerly Wards Bar, Baylough, Athlone, Roscommon and late of Muckinagh, Strokestown, Co Roscommon, peacefully in the tender care of Galway Hospice.
Deeply regretted by her loving husband Fintan, daughters Alison and Colette, son Dermot, sister Marjorie, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, uncles, nephew, nieces, grandnephews, grandniece, Frank, relatives, neighbours, colleagues in Athlone IT and friends. May She Rest in Peace.
Reposing on Friday, February 23 at The Strand Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, February 24 at SS Peter and Pauls Church at 11am. Burial afterwards in Clonown Cemetery. Family Flowers only, donations, if desired, to Galway Hospice.

Philomena Dolan (née Keegan), Corloughlin, Drumshanbo, Leitrim / Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim
The recent death has occurred on Wednesday, February 21 of Philomena (Phyllis) Dolan of Corloughlin, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and formerly of Drumroosk North, Foxfield, Carrick on Shannon, peacefully at North West Hospice in her 65th year.  
Sadly missed by her husband Thomas, her daughters Ann Marie and Veronica, her sons Kevin, Damian and Shane, her grandchildren Sean, Erik, Cara, Belle, Lauren, Donnacha, Grace, Madison her brothers Jimmy, Brendan, Noel and her sisters Marie, Christina, Detta, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Family Home (strictly private) on Thursday evening February 22. Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Friday, February 23 at St Patrick’s Church, Drumshanbo with burial in the new cemetery afterwards. Family flowers only, donations to North West Hospice, Sligo.

Una Gilsenan (nee Keegan), Teddington, South West London & Thomastown, Killucan, Co Westmeath
The death occurred,  peacefully, surrounded by her family after a brave fight with cancer, on Tuesday, February 13 of Una Gilsenan (nee Keegan) – of Teddington, South West London, originally from Thomastown, Killucan, Co Westmeath.
Greatly missed by her husband Sean, family and friends. May Una rest in peace.
Funeral Mass on Friday, February 23 at 11am at St Joseph’s Church, Rathwire, Co Westmeath, followed by interment of ashes in the adjoining cemetery.
