Deaths in Longford - Sunday, January 28, 2018 - evening

Paddy Durkin, Main Street, Granard, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, after a short illness in The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin, on Saturday, January 27, of Paddy Durkin, Main Street, Granard, Longford. Predeceased by his wife Mary, son Hugh and sister Breege. Sadly missed by his children Sabina, Oliver, Patrick and Clare, brothers Andrew and Hugh sister Susanna, son-in-law Bill, daughter-in-law Annmarie, grandchildren Orson, Esme, Findlay, Sam, Ben, Jake, Arlo, Annabelle and Paddy, brothers-in-law George, Sean and Frank, sisters-in-law Pauline, Alice and Ann, his devoted carers at home and the doctors and nursing staff of The Blackrock Clinic, nieces, nephews, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Reposing at his home on Sunday, January 28 from 3pm until 6.45pm arriving St Mary's Church, Granard at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 29 at 2pm. Interment afterwards in Granardkill Cemetery.
May he Rest in Peace. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to The Alzheimers Society, Longford, care of the undertaker or any family member. As a mark of respect Durkin Medical will be closed until Thursday, February 1. Paddy was a true shepard.

Johnny Deehan, Ballymagrine, Rooskey, Roscommon
The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of all the staff at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford, on Saturday, January 27, of Johnny Deehan, Ballymagrine, Rooskey, Roscommon. He will be sadly missed by his loving sisters Mary Cox (Ardnacassa Lawns, Longford) and Philomena Prunty (College Park, Longford), brother-in-law James, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Monday, January 29 from 4.30pm followed by removal at 6.30pm to the Sacred Heart Church, Whitehall, to arrive at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 30 at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Kilglass Cemetery, Co Roscommon.


Mary Grogan (née Gallagher), Main Street, Drumkeerin, Leitrim
The death occurred, unexpectedly, on Saturday, January 27, of Mary Grogan, nee Gallagher, Main Street, Drumkeerin and formerly of Creevelea, Drumkeerin, Co Leitrim. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sorrowing family; sons Seamus (Sligo) and Damian (Drumkeerin), daughters Barbara (Ramsgrange, Co Wexford) and Loretta (Ballymahon, Co Longford), sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, relatives and friends. May She Rest in Peace.
Reposing at the residence of her son Damian, Glassdrummond, Drumkeerin, on Sunday, January 28 from 3pm until 10pm and on Monday, January 29 from 10am until 5pm followed by removal to St Brigid's Church, Drumkeerin, arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 30 at 11am. Burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Eileen Reilly, Moynagh, Finea, Cavan
The death occurred, peacefully at The General Hospital Cavan, on Saturday, January 27, of Eileen Reilly, Lisdarn Lodge, Cavan and formerly Moynagh, Finea, Co Cavan. Sadly missed by her sister Rose McEnerney, Moynagh, nephew Pauric, relatives and friends.
Reposing at The McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan on Sunday, January 28 from 3.30pm until 5pm followed by removal to St Mary's Church, Carrick arriving at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 29 at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. House private please.

Margaret Shanley (née Meehan), Dernasmallon, Ballinamore, Leitrim
The death occurred, peacefully, at Ballinamore Community Nursing Unit, on Sunday, January 28, of Margaret Shanley (née Meehan), Dernasmallon, Ballinamore, Leitrim. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at her home until removal to St Mary's Church, Aughnasheelin on Monday, January 29 arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 30 at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. House strictly private please.

Una Hitchcock (née Murray), Ballymun, Dublin / Castlepollard, Westmeath
The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of her family and the wonderful staff of The Synge Unit (PACS), Fairview, on Friday, January 26, of Una Hitchcock (née Murray), Ballymun and late of Castlepollard, Co Westmeath. Una was predeceased by her husband Billy, baby daughter Christina and close niece Marie. She will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her sons Liam, Eugene & John, her daughter-in-law Ann, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grand nephews, great-grand nieces, cousin Moll, extended family, wonderful neighbours and friends.
Reposing on Sunday afternoon, January 28 from 3pm to 5.30pm at Rom Massey & Sons Funeral Home, the Ballymun Civic Centre, Ballymun Road, D09 C8P5. Funeral Mass on Monday morning, January 29 at 10am at the Church of The Holy Spirit, Sillogue Road, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
