Deaths in Longford - April 24, 2017

Michael Keenan, Great Water Street, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred on Saturday April 22 of Michael Keenan, Great Water Street, Longford town, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband of Agnes. Michael will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, wife Agnes, sons John and Michael, daughters Josephine, Bridie, Lily, Rita, Eileen and Bernadette, sons in law, daughters in law, sister in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing at his residence on Monday, April 24 from 5pm until 9pm and again on Tuesday, April 25 from 12 noon until 4pm with family time thereafter. Removal to arrive at St Mel's Cathedral at 6.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, April 26 at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery.


Mary Ann Harris (née Gill), Clonturk, Killashee Road, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, April 22 of Mary Ann Harris (née Gill), Clonturk, Killashee Road, Longford Town, Longford, formerly of Richmond Grill, Richmond Street, Longford. Predeceased by her husband Thomas. Mary Ann will be sadly missed by her daughter Caroline, sons Kevin and Richard, Jane, son-in-law John, grandchildren Robert, Claire, Stephen, Adam, Aaron and Shauna, sister Kathleen (Luton,England), brothers Fred and John (Drumsna), nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.
Mary Ann's remains reposed in her home at Clonturk, Killashee Road, Longford on Sunday, April 23 and she will also repose at her home on Monday, April 24 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral mass in St Patrick's Church, Killashee, on Tuesday, April 25 at 11am with burial afterwards in Jamestown Cemetery. Family flowers only please; donations if desired to the Day Ward Mullingar General Hospital, c/o Connell Funeral Directors, Church Street, Longford, or any family member. Family time on Tuesday morning please.

Elizabeth - Betty Walsh (née Carberry), Derryhaun, Kenagh, Longford
The death occurred, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Friday, April 21 of Elizabeth - Betty Walsh (nee Carberry), Derryhaun, Kenagh, County Longford and late of Manchester. Predeceased by her husband Padraic and her son Peter. Deeply regretted by her loving sons James, David and John, their partners, children and grandchildren, her brother, sisters, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Removal from her home at Derryhaun on Monday, April 24 to Saint Dominic's Church, Kenagh, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by removal to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan Town for Cremation Service at 3pm. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to Patient Comfort Fund, Mullingar Regional Hospital care of Kelly’s Funeral Directors, Longford, or any family member. House Private Please.

Peter Smyth, Maunsells Road, Galway City, Galway / Abbeylara, Co Longford
The death occurred on Saturday, April 22 of Peter Smyth, Maunsells Road, Galway City, Galway and formerly Abbeylara, Co Longford, peacefully at University Hospital, Galway. Sadly missed by his beloved children Peter and Joanne, brothers Dan, Bernard, Pat and Vincent, sisters Monica and Mary, son-in-law Devin, daughter-in-law Melissa, his adored five grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Reposing at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway on Monday, April 24 from 5pm to 7pm. Removal to the Church of Christ the King, Salthill on Tuesday, April 25 to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to Rahoon Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Cancer Care West. 'May he rest in peace'.

Bernadette (Bernie) McLoughlin (née McBarron), Church Street, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim


The death occurred on Sunday, April 23 of Bernadette (Bernie) McLoughlin (nee McBarron), Church Street, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim and formerly Kinawley, Co Fermanagh,  peacefully at her residence.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Paul, daughter Clare, sisters Sarah, Christine, Marie, Carmel, Julia and Pauline, brothers Michael and PJ sisters-in-law Deirdre (Harvey), Breege (McLoughlin), Marie McBarron and Chrissie McBarron, brothers-in-law Jimmy Shannon, P.J Conefrey, Dessie Bannon, Gerry McLoughlin, Kevin Kennedy & Terry Brady, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at her home on Monday, April 24 from 12 noon until 5pm with removal to St Patrick's Church, Ballinamore arriving at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning April 25 at 11am followed by burial in Kiltubrid cemetery, Drumcong, Co Leitrim. Donations, if desired, to the North West Hospice, Sligo c/o Smith’s Funeral Directors, Ballinamore.
