Deaths in Longford - March 23, 2017

Cecilia Gannon (née Mulvihill), Kilkenny Cross, Castlebar, Mayo / Abbeyshrule, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully at her residence, on Thursday, March 23 of Cecilia Gannon (née Mulvihill), Kilkenny Cross, Castlebar and late of Abbeyshrule, Co Longford. Beloved wife of the late Michael and loving mother of the late Eugene. Very deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, daughter’s Marian (Gilmartin) and Jospehine (Gannon),son’s Raymond and Dermot, daughters-in-law Dolores and June, son-in-law PJ and grandchildren Lorraine and husband Raj, Colm, Alison, Jeffrey and David, great-granddaughter Erin, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Remains reposing at her residence tomorrow, Friday evening, March 24 from 5pm to 8pm with removal on Saturday morning, March 25 at 10am to St Aloysius' Church, Breaffy for Funeral Mass at 11am with burial afterwards in Breaffy Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Western Alzheimer’s, Ballindine c/o Moran Funeral Directors, Castlebar.


Margaret Kehir, Castleknock, Dublin / Moyne, Longford
The death occurred, suddenly, on Wednesday, March 22 of Margaret Kehir (née Cosgrove) of Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly of Moyne, Co Longford. Beloved wife of James and dear mother of Grace, Louise and Mark and sister of James, Philip and Bridget. Sadly missed by her loving family, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Church Avenue, Blanchardstown on Friday evening, March 24 from 6pm to 8pm. Removal to St Brigid’s Church, Blanchardstown on Saturday morning, March 25 arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by burial in Rathmoyle Cemetery, Kilmurray, Co Roscommon arriving at 2.30pm (approximately). House private please.


Ann Sheridan (née McGlynn), Lisnagrish, Edgeworthstown, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully, at the General Hospital, Mullingar, on Thursday, March 23 of Ann Sheridan (née McGlynn), Lisnagrish, Edgeworthstown, Longford. Sadly missed by her loving husband Michael, family Damien, Sharon, James and Jacqueline, grandchildren Leah and Liam, brothers Mick and Peter, sisters Mary, Rosie and Jodie, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown, on Saturday, March 25 from 3pm with prayers at 5.15pm, followed by removal to St Mary's Church to arrive at 6pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Sunday, March 26 at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Aughafin Cemetery. House private please.

Patrick ‘Pat Joe’ Moore, Hackney, London, and late of 15 Templemichael Terrace, Longford Town, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully at St Thomas's Hospital, London on Thursday, March 2 of Patrick ‘Pat Joe’ Moore, Hackney, London, and late of 15 Templemichael Terrace, Longford Town, Longford. Sadly missed by his loving sister Annamai McCreanor (Longford) and brother-in-law Jimmy, his niece Jennifer, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford, on Thursday, March 23 from 6pm until 8pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal to St Mel's Cathedral on Friday, March 24 to arrive for Mass of the Resurrection at 12pm. Interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Pieta House care of Glennon's Funeral Directors. House private please.

Joan Hernan (née Scott), Ballygar, Galway / Arva, Cavan
The death occurred, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Roscommon, on Thursday, March 23 of Joan Hernan (nee Scott), Ballygar, Co Galway and formerly Arva, Co Cavan. Predeceased by her brother Robert and sister Violet. Much loved wife of Michael (Mick) and dearly loved mother of Raymond, Robert, John and David, sadly missed by her loving family, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brother Basil, sisters Joy, Faye, Maude and Mignone, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her residence on Friday, March 24 from 4pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon, March 25 for Funeral Service in St Coman’s Church of Ireland, Roscommon, at 4pm with burial afterwards in Ballygar Graveyard. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Sacred Heart Hospital Comfort Fund.


Geraldine O'Hanlon (née Dunleavy), Nazareth Village, Sligo Town, Sligo / Mohill, Leitrim
The death occurred, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital, on Tuesday, March 21 of Geraldine O’Hanlon (nee Dunleavy) Nazareth Village, Sligo and formerly Cairns Hill and Main Street, Mohill. Dearly loved wife of Tom and cherished mother of Garrett and Sinead and Grandmother of Rocco, Scarlett, Martha and Aoife.Predeceased by her brother John. Sadly missed by her loving family sisters, May, Tish and Cathy, Brother Fr Michael O.P.,Uncles Fr Paddy Hagan, Kiltegan and John Hagan, Killoe, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing at the Nazareth House Chapel from 4:30pm on Thursday, March 23 with removal at 6.30pm to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo to arrive at 7pm. Mass of Christian burial at 11.30am on Friday, March 24. Cremation to follow in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, funeral proceeding via Mohill, Co Leitrim to arrive at Lakelands Crematorium at approximately 2.45pm.


Nora Golden (née Jebb), Lanesboro, Co Roscommon
The death occurred on Sunday, March 19 of Nora Golden (nee Jebb), Ballyleague, Co Roscommon, suddenly. Peacefully in the wonderful care of Medical 1, Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar.
Sadly missed by her sons Patrick, Timothy and Michael, granddaughters Jessica and Amber, nieces and nephews, family and friends.
No flowers, donations to the MRI Fund, Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar. Nora donated her body to Medical Research. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 25 in St John’s (COI) Church, Lanesboro.

John Isdell, Dublin Road, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath
The death occurred on Tuesday, March 21 of John Isdell - Dublin Road, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband of Eileen, dear father of Deirdre, Conor, Niamh, Una and Emer and much loved grandad to his precious grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife and family, sisters Gay and Lorrie, brother Paddy, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 23 at 11am in St Michael's Church, Castlepollard followed by burial in Whitehall Cemetery.

Bernard ‘Brian’ Harten, Tower Hamlet, Cavan Town, Cavan / Arva, Co Cavan / Blackrock, Dublin
The death occurred on Tuesday March 21 of Bernard ‘Brian’ Harten, Tower Hamlet, Cavan town and late of Blackrock, Dublin and Bruce, Arva, Co Cavan, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at John Sullivan Centre, Cavan.
Sadly missed by his wife Agnes, sons Kieran (Moate) and Eunan (Dublin), daughter Ita Shaughnessy,(Cavan) sister Anna (Stockport, England) brother John (Australia), his adored grandchildren Laura, Sinead, Ciara, Carolyn, Aoife, Ben and Ali, son-in-law Ger, daughter-in-law Susan, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, relatives, friends and neighbours.  Rest in Peace.
Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 23 at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea, Arva,  followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.
