Deaths in Longford - March 13, 2017

John Dowd, Blackwater, Wexford / Lanesboro, Co Longford

The death occurred on Monday, March 13 of John Dowd, Blackwater, Co Wexford and formerly of Lanesboro, Co Longford, peacefully in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff at Knockeen Nursing Home, Barntown.
John will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Kathleen, sister Mary (Mulvihill), extended family, relatives and many friends.
Reposing at Knockeen Nursing Home, Barntown on Tuesday, March 14 from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15 at 2pm in St Mary's Church, Lanesboro, Co Longford followed by interment afterwards in Lanesboro Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Hospice Homecare. (Donation Box will be at the Nursing Home and Church). May He Rest In Peace.


Ann Kelly, Clonturk, Longford


The death occurred on Saturday, March 11 of Ann Kelly, Clonturk, Longford. Predeceased by her father Robert, mother Helen, brothers Sean and Bobby and sister Pat. Ann will be sadly missed by her loving family, sisters Maura and Jo (Dennigan), sister in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road on Monday, March 13 from 6pm until 8pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal on Tuesday, March 14 to arrive at St Anne's Church, Curry for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the Dialysis Unit at Cavan General Hospital. House private please.


Teresa ‘Tess’ Jones (née Coughlan), Brackagh Lodge, The Pigeons, Athlone, Co Westmeath
The death occurred on Sunday, March 12 of of Teresa ‘Tess’ Jones (nee Coughlan) Bracklagh Lodge, The Pigeons, Athlone, Co Westmeath, peacefully in Mullingar General Hospital.
Predeceased by her husband Glyn. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her beloved son Owen, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren David and Rebecca, brother John, sister-in-law Maureen, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.
Reposing at her residence on Tuesday evening March 14 from 2pm until 9pm. House private on Wednesday morning March 15 please. Funeral Mass at 11am on Wednesday morning March 15 in St Mary's Church, Tang followed by burial in Temple-a-Valley Cemetery.


Rosemary Barden, Kilmore Lower, Killashee, Longford


The death occurred, suddenly, after a short illness, on Friday, March 10 of Rosemary Barden, Kilmore Lower, Killashee, Longford. Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mai. Sadly missed by her loving family sisters Claire (Carroll) and Ita (O'Farrell), brothers Thomas, Oliver, Michéal, Ciaran and Declan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon on Monday, March 13 in St Mary's Church, Newtownforbes and interment afterwards in Newtownforbes Cemetery.
Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to The Asthma Society of Ireland.


Mary Letitia (Letty) McLoughlin (née Skeffington), Stonehall, Multyfarnham, Westmeath
The death occurred, peacefully, in her 92nd year, in The Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Thursday, March 9 of Mary Letitia (Letty) McLoughlin (née Skeffington), Stonehall, Multyfarnham, Westmeath. Beloved wife of the late Dermot and loving mother of Desmond. She will be sadly missed by her by her son and daughter-in-law Mairéad, her sister Margaret Skeffington and brother Tom, her adored grandchildren Brian, Julie, Sabina, Dearbhail and Meadbh, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May Letty Rest in Peace.
Funeral Mass on Monday, March 13 at 12 noon in St Nicholas' Church, Multyfarnham, followed by burial in Stonehall Cemetery. Family flowers only, please.
