Deaths in Longford - March 10, 2017

John Griffin, Clonsilla, Dublin / Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred on Thursday, March 9 of  John Griffin, Longford Town, Co Longford and formerly of Clonsilla, Dublin 15, peacefully at Mullingar Regional Hospital.
John, beloved husband of Lorraine, dear father of Jason, Mark and John and a devoted and cherished grandfather of Hannah, Lauren, Luke and Dean; Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, brother Gerard, sisters Valerie and Yvonne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. RIP.
Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Clonsilla Village on Friday evening, March 10 from 6pm to 8pm. Removal to Glasnevin Crematorium on Saturday afternoon, March 11 arriving for funeral prayers at 1pm. No flowers necessary.

Margaret ‘Peggy’ Mollaghan (née Gallagher), Templeogue, Dublin, New York and San Diego USA, Fenagh, Leitrim / Drumlish, Co Longford
The recent death has occurred on Monday, February 13 of Margaret Mollaghan nee Gallagher Fenagh County Leitrim, Templeogue, Dublin, New York and San Diego USA aged 83 years. Wife of the late Patrick, Cloonaugh, Drumlish, County Longford.
Deeply regretted by her sons Tommy and Aaron daughters Marian, Bernadette, Sheila, Eileen and Diane, sisters Lil and Rose, brother John, eleven grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins relatives and friends. Rest In Peace.
Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church Drumlish County Longford on Friday, March 10 at 12 noon followed by interment of cremated remains in local cemetery.

Bernard Brady, Drumgore, Loughduff, Cavan
The death occurred, suddenly at home, on Wednesday, March 8 of Bernard Brady, Drumgore, Loughduff, Cavan. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Molly, and brother Thomas Conaty. Sadly missed by his sister Mary Coyle, nephews, Patrick and Marcus and Marcus's partner Sarah, grandnephew Dean, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace. Reposed at his home on Thursday evening from 8pm. Removal arriving to St Joseph's Church, Loughduff on Saturday for 12 noon Funeral Mass. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.


Frances Gilbane, Shanballybawn, Cootehall, Roscommon / Co Leitrim
The death occurred on Wednesday, March 8 of Frances Gilbane, Shanballybawn, Cootehill, Roscommon/ Co Leitrim and formerly Mealwood, Jamestown, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Drumderrig Nursing Home, Boyle.
Sadly missed by her loving sister Mary Daly (Shanballybawn) nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. “May she rest in peace”
Removal to St Michael’s Church, Cootehall. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 10 at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in Jamestown Cemetery. House private please.


Kitty Keane (née Nulty), Rathaspic, Rathowen, Co Westmeath
The death occurred on Thursday, March 9 of Kitty Keane (nee Nulty), Rathaspic, Rathowen, Co Westmeath, peacefully in the devoted care of Matron and staff of Cluain Lir Centre, Mullingar.
Beloved wife of John and dear mother of Mary (Newman), Michael, Sean, Seamus, Kathleen (Kennedy), Martina (Taylor) and Majella (Hunt). She will be sadly missed by her loving husband and family, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Sarah (Dowler), extended family, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at her home on Friday, March 10 from 4pm to 7.30pm and house private thereafter. Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 11 at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Rathowen followed by burial in Rathaspic Cemetery.


Wilbur Lang, 2 Drumbear Wood, Monaghan Town, Monaghan / Carrigallen, Leitrim
The death occurred, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 9 of Wilbur Lang, 2 Drumbear Wood, Monaghan Town, Monaghan / Carrigallen, Leitrim. Loving husband of Helen and dear father of David, Eunice and Barbara. Sadly missed by his wife, son, daughters, grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.
Resting at the family home today, Friday. Thanksgiving Service for the life of Wilbur in Corlespratten Methodist Church tomorrow, Saturday at 1pm followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan at 3.30pm.

Kathleen McCabe, Drumkielvy, Mohill, Leitrim / Mulhuddart, Dublin
The death occurred, peacefully at The Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Co Dublin surrounded by her friends and relatives, on Monday, March 6 of Kathleen McCabe late of Mulhuddart, Dublin 15 and formerly of Drumkielvy, Mohill, Co Leitrim.
Predeceased by her brother John McCabe, Drumkielvy, Mohill. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her cousins, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Remains reposing at Glennons Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford, on Friday, March 10 from 7pm - 8pm with funeral Mass in St Patrick's Church, Mohill, on Saturday, March 11 at 10am. Burial afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.


Ann Marie (Nancy) McDermott (née McAllister) Aughaboy, Ferbane, Offaly / Ballinamore, Leitrim
The death occurred, peacefully at Carthage Nursing Home, Mucklagh, on Thursday, March 9 of Ann Marie (Nancy) McDermott (née McAllister) Aughaboy, Ferbane, Offaly / Ballinamore, Leitrim. She is a native of Ballinamore, Co Leitrim. Nancy will be sadly missed by her loving husband Paddy, sons Trevor, Brendan, Dermot, John, Garry and Norman, daughters Iris, Andrea, Tina and Annika, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, sister, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Her remains will repose at her home on Friday from 3pm until 9pm. Removal on Saturday morning to St Mary's Church, Ferbane for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in St Joseph's Cemetery, Kilcormac.

Frank McKeon, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim
The death occurred on Wednesday, March 8 of Frank McKeon, Woodside Carrick Road, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and formerly of Lisacarn, Ballinmore, Co Leitrim, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home.
Deeply regretted by his loving wife Bernadette, daughters Ruth, Sheila, Olive and son Alan, sons-in-law Niall, Liam, and William, daughter-in-law Tonita, his thirteen grandchildren, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, extended family and a large circle of friends.
Remains reposing at his residence from 4pm to 9pm this Friday evening March 10 with family time thereafter please. Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, March 11 in St. Patrick's Church Drumshanbo followed by burial to Drumshanbo Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers if so desired, to The North West hospice care of MJ McLoughlin Funeral Directors, Carrick On Shannon.

Maeve Power (née Cosgrave), Shankill, Dublin / Granard, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Greystones Nursing Home, on Sunday, March 5 of Maeve Power (née Cosgrave), Shankill, Dublin and formerly of Granard, Longford. Beloved wife of the late Paddy, much loved mother of Deirdre, Pierce, Martin, David and Ivan. Will be sadly missed by her daughter, sons, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass on Friday morning, March 10 at 10am in St Anne's Church, Shankill followed by interment in Deans Grange Cemetery.

Michael Wetton, No.25 Castlegrove, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath
The recent death has occurred on Friday, March 3 of Michael Wetton, No 25 Castlegrove, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, peacefully at Midlands Mullingar Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Survived by his loving wife Joan, daughters, stepdaughters, stepson, brother James, sister Carol, nieces, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, cousins and a wide circle of friends both in England and Ireland. May he rest in peace.
Funeral on Friday, March 10 at 3pm at the Church of Ireland, Castlepollard and Burial afterwards to adjoining Church Yard. House strictly private Friday morning please. The family would like to thank Dr Richard of Coole Surgery and all the doctors, nurses and staff of Mullingars A&E and Medical 1 for all their loving care and support throughout Michael’s illness.
