The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff of Mullingar General Hospitalon Friday, April  17, 2026 of Malachy Scott, Kiltycreevagh, Ballinamuck, Co Longford and formerly of Ballynacargy, Westmeath. 

Predeceased by his beloved recently deceased wife Philomena, son Colin, parents James and Margaret, brother Jimmy, and sister Mary Maher. Malachy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his nephews and nieces Michael, Audrey, Damien, Fiona, James and Davina; his extended family in Ballinamuck — Michael McNally, Belinda, Fiona, Garry, Michelle, Marie, Jenni and Cillian; relatives, many good friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his home in Kiltycreevagh, Ballinamuck (Eircode N39 E9V4) on Sunday, April 19 from 5pm, concluding with prayers at 8pm. Please follow the directions of the stewards. Thank you.

Funeral Mass on Monday, April 20 in St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamuck, arriving for 12 noon, followed by burial in Ballinamuck New Cemetery. House private on Monday morning, please.

Kathleen Redahan (née Clyne), Lisardowlan, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at the Regional Hospital, Mullingar, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April  17, 2026 of Kathleen Redahan (née Clyne), Lisardowlan, Longford and formerly of Lanesboro and Granard, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her husband Michael, sisters Teresa (Grier) and Rose (Broy) and also by her brothers Pat and Barry. Kathleen will be greatly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Mary Rose, sons Michael, Patrick and Peter, daughter-in-law Niamh, cherished grandson Oisín, sisters-in-law Bernadette and Kathleen, brother-in-law Henry, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, April 19 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am on Monday, April 20, with interment afterwards in Ardagh cemetery. Paddy Mullally, Ballynacargy, Westmeath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Mullingar Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 17, 2026 of Paddy Mullally, Ballymaglavy, Ballynacargy, Co Westmeath/ Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Dan, Kathleen and his brother John. Paddy will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving family. His sisters May, Catherine, brother Donal, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Mullingar Hospital Mortuary on Saturday, April 18 from 4.30pm with prayers at 6pm, followed by removal to St Patrick's Church, Moyvore, Mullingar, Co Westmeath arriving for 7pm mass (N91 PW62). Funeral Mass on Monday, April 20 at 11am. Burial immediately afterwards in Forgney Cemetery.

Sadie Knight (née Leahy), Cullaboy, Kilcogy, Cavan / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her 97th year in the exceptional loving care of the Management and Nursing staff at Sheelin Nursing Home, Mountnugent on Thursday, April  16, 2026 of Sadie Knight (nee Leahy), Cullaboy, Kilcogy, Cavan/ Longford.

Predeceased by her husband Fred brothers Leslie and Joe (Bunty). Sadie will always be sadly missed and remembered by her loving daughter Louise, her sister-in-law Vera, nieces Hazel, Lorna, Valerie and Freda, extended family neighbours and friends. Safe in the arms of Jesus

Charlie Hilliard, Killinlastra, Ardagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully, at the Regional Hospital, Mullingar, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 of Charlie Hilliard, Killinlastra, Ardagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his wife Mary, his sisters Mary, Margaret and Nancy, his brothers Bernard and Michael. Sadly missed by his heartbroken family, his daughters Marie Cunningham (Kildare), Cathy O' Carroll (Kildare), son-in-law Adrian, cherished grandchildren Aisling, Cathal and Padraic, his sister Helen (Lena) Delaney (Moate) and brother Tom (New York), sisters-in-law Maureen (Clonahard), Anne (New York) and Roseleen Conry (Roscommon), nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbours, and friends. Daniel Smyth, Toberphelim House, Granard, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of the ICU at the Mater University Hospital Dublin on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 of  Daniel Smyth Toberphelim House, Granard, Co. Longford.

Predeceased by his parents, Brian and Maureen, brother Peter and sister Mary (Keogh). Beloved husband of Mary (Kenny) and treasured Dad of Anne Marie (Allen), Patricia, Elizabeth (Dunleavy), Breda (Brady), Danielle and Brian. He will be greatly missed by his family, sister Monica (Tynan), brothers Bernard, Pat and Vincent, brother-in-law John (Kenny), sisters-in-law, his sons in law Cormac, Brian and Edwin and daughter in law Halina; his much-loved grandchildren Daniel, Seamus, Patrick, Caoimhe, Donnacha, Sean, Lyla & Daniel, extended family and a wide circle of wonderful neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his home on Thursday, April 16 from 3pm to 7pm and on Friday, April 17 from 3pm to 7pm. One way system in place with entry via the front of his home (R396) and exit to the rear (R194) Cartronbore. Removal from his residence on Saturday morning, April 18 for funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Bernard's Church, Abbeylara with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully in Saint Brigid's Hospice The Curragh, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 of Aidan Clarke, Baybush Straffan Co. Kildare and formerly of Geraldine Terrace, Longford town. 

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Carmel, parents Tommy and Aileen, brother Francis, sisters Dolores and Celine, deeply regretted and sadly missed by his children Tracy, Colin and Bryan, daughters -in- law Sinead and Suzanne, devoted and much loved grandchildren Jack, Ella, Ben and Ava, nieces, nephews extended family and a large circle of friends. Reposing at his residence on Thursday, April 16 from 5pm, with concluding prayers at 7pm. Removal from his residence by Oliver Reilly Funeral Directors on Friday, April 17th at approx. 1:30pm to arrive at St. Brigid's Church, Straffan for 2pm Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Straffan Cemetery. Donations to St Francis Hospice in Memory of Aidan Clarke.

Edward (Ned) Butler, Carrick, Finea, Co Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of his family on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 of Edward (Ned) Butler of Carrick, Finea, Co Westmeath and formerly of Ballycomoyle, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Eileen and Patrick, sisters Teresa and Nancy and brother Tom, Ned is fondly remembered by his sons Padraig (Ashling) and Derek (Amy), daughter Elaine (Mark) and their mam Geraldine; grandchildren Aoibheann, William, Ellarose, Lily and Finn; his extended family of brothers Noel, Gerry, Joe, Seamus and Michael, sisters Breege, Helen, Mary, Catherine, Margaret, Claire and Fiona; relatives and friends. Reposing at his son Padraig's residence, 'Glory View', Shrunahella, Castlepollard (N91 KT52) on Saturday, April 18 from 5pm to 8pm. Arriving at St Michael's Church, Castlepollard on Sunday, April 19 for 11.30am Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery, Finea. Family flowers only, please; donations, if desired, to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

Mal Brady, Dublin Road, Ballinagh, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in Hayes on Saturday, October 25, 2025 of Mal Brady, Hillington, Uxbridge, U.K and late of Brady’s Pub, Dublin Road, Ballinagh, Co Cavan. 

Sadly missed by his loving wife Bernie, son Adrian, daughter Catherine, his adored grandchildren Sam, Louis, Jack, Olivia and Kieran, son in law, daughter in law, brothers Seamus and Willie, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. "May He Rest In Peace ".

Memorial Mass for Mal will take place on Saturday, April 18 at 12 noon in St Felim's Church, Ballinagh. Interment of ashes afterwards in the family grave.

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of his family on Friday, April 17, 2026 of Horst Oelke, Milltown, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.

He will be missed by his wife Mary, sons David and Bodo, daughters Charlotte and Madita and his many grandchildren, extended family members, neighbours and friends.
