The death occurred unexpectedly but peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar, surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 24, 2026 of Phyllis Monaghan (née Hayden), Teffia Park, Longford Town, Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Denis and Mary, sister Ethna and by her beloved husband Jimmy. Phyllis will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughters Fiona and Deirdre, son Adrian, son-in-law Dessie, grandchildren Jade, Rhys and Jack, great-grandchild Freya-rose, brother Sean, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, great neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Tuesday, January 27 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, January 28 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Newtownforbes cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE.

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 24, 2026 of Tim O'Connell, Carrickedmond, Ballymahon, Longford, N37 PX88 and formerly of Listowel, Co Kerry.  

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Han. Sadly missed by his loving wife Deirdre, daughter Kerry (Nugent), sons Tadhg, Emmet and Brian, brothers John, Danny (U.S.A.) and Mike, son-in-law Michael, daughters-in-law Daniela and Elaine, his adoring grandchildren Imogen, Alex, Adam, Anna, Kelsey and Cailum, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Reposing at Home (Carrickedmond, Co Longford | N39 PX88) on Tuesday evening, January 27 from 4pm until 7pm. Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 28 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 3pm​​ (can viewed HERE). Charlie Grimes, Ballyduffy, Moyne, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his life Helen and his loving family on Friday, January 23, 2026 of Charlie Grimes, Ballyduffy, Moyne, Longford. 

Predeceased by his mother Lena, father James, brothers John, Bill and sister Maria. Charlie will be greatly missed by his wife Helen, his loving family Teresa (London), Mark (Aughnacliffe), Ann-Marie (Turloughmore), Cathal (Coronea), Paul (Maynooth), Helena (Limerick), brother Joe (Brighton), sons-in-law Derren, Ciaran, and Shane, daughters-in-law Una, Dolores and Sinead, his adored grandchildren George, Charlie, Oliver, Cody, Zoe, Ella, Leah, Abby, Ava, Conor, Emma, Grace and Sophia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, great neighbours and friends. Pete McLoughlin, Clonahard, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 of Pete McLoughlin, Clonahard, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents John and Mary and by his sister Róisín O’Flynn. Pete will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sister Maura (Cork), brother-in-law John, niece Johanna (Forde), nephews Willie-John and Finbarr, niece-in-law Anne, nephew-in-law Nicholas, grand-niece Philippa, grand-nephew Adam, relatives, exceptional neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred peacefully, in his 91st year, after an illness borne with great dignity in the excellent care of the doctors, nurses and staff of the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Thursday, January 22, 2026 of Thomas Smyth, Pakenhamhall Road, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and formerly of Ballintubber, Co Roscommon.

Tommy Joe was predeceased by his adored wife Ellen (Elsie), granddaughter Paula and his brothers and sisters gone before him. He is greatly missed by his children Marie, Anthony, Teresa and Margaret, and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by his brother Denis, sisters Mary and Nora, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and friends. The death occurred in the loving care of his family and staff at Cavan General Hospital on Saturday, January 24, 2026 of Sean Reilly, Castlesaunderson, Belturbet, County Cavan, and formerly Aughavass, County Leitrim.  

Pre-deceased by his parents, Mary Ann and Bernard, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Sadly missed by his sister Peggy, and brother Seamus, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many, many friends. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred peacefully, at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 25, 2026 of Raymond Palmer, Beulah House, Finisklin and formerly Temple Street, Sligo town, Co Sligo/ Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Tom and Mae and brother, Tom. Beloved husband of Orla and loving father of Martin (Sinead), Edel (John), and John (Jenny). Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, brother, Joe, sisters, Frances and Ann, grandchildren, Chelsey, Darren, Cathal, Thomas, Matthew and Lydia, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her daughter Joanne, sisters Mary, Helen and Norah, Jean will be deeply missed by her loving husband Gerry, son Gerard, grandchildren Lauren, Caitlin, Shauna, Eoghan and Grace, daughter-in-law Karen, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends near and far. The death occurred peacefully, in the care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 22, 2026 of Cáit Quinn (née Curran) Killycard, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, formerly Derrada, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her parents Brigid and James, brothers and sisters Seamus, Olive, Pauline, Pat, Ben, Rita, Theresa, Trudy and Frank. Deeply regretted and lovingly missed by her devoted family, husband Joe, children, Carol Ann, Kevin, Gary, Sinéad and Eithne, grandchildren, sons-in-law, Colm, Enda and John, daughters-in-law, Grace and Marta, cousins, Oliver and Ethna, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Cáit will repose at Hughes Funeral premises (A75 KC66) on Saturday, January 24 from 2pm to 6pm and privately amongst her family and friends at her home at all other times. Removal from her home on Monday morning, January 26 at 11.30 am arriving to St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney, for requiem mass at 12 noon, with burial afterward in the adjoining cemetery.
