George (Junior) Shedwell, St Mel's Road, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 17, 2026 of George (Junior) Shedwell, St. Mel’s Road, Longford town. 

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Betty, sisters Mafie, infant Pascaline, Yvette and Finola, brother Michael, nephews Derek and Gary and by his niece Lorraine. George will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Maisie, brothers Kenneth, Declan and Joe, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Removal on Tuesday, January 20 to arrive at St Mel’s Cathedral for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HEREFamily flowers only please donations if desired to the Longford Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society, c/o Glennon Funeral Directors or any family member.

Brendan Keigher, Cloonarkin Drive, Oranmore, Galway / Lanesboro, Co Longford

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing at his home on Friday, January 16, 2026 of Brendan Keigher, Cloonarkin Drive, Oranmore, Co Galway and formerly of Lanesboro, Co Longford.  

Predeceased by his parents Dominic and Mae and son-in-law Steve. Beloved husband of Margaret, much loved father to Don, Mairéad and Aoife. Brendan will be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Emma and son-in-law James. Brendan was a very proud grandfather to Aidan, Oliver, Aisling and Finn. He is survived by his sisters Angela and Marie, brothers John and Donal, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and a large circle of friends and former colleagues.

Reposing at Tearmann Mhuire on the grounds of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Oranmore (H91 XC61) on Monday, January 19 from 5pm to 6.30 pm with removal to the church for 7pm Mass. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 20 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Oranmore at 12 noon. 

Mass will be broadcast on parish radio 105.3FM and can be viewed on parish website HEREBurial afterwards in Renville Cemetery. Family flowers only.

Kevin Dalton, Newtownforbes, Ballinalee, Longford / Newtownforbes, Longford

The death occurred on Friday, January 16, 2026 of Kevin Dalton, McArt Meadows, Leitrim Cross, Newtownforbes, Co Longford and formerly of Castlebrock, Ballinalee, Co Longford.  

Predeceased by his father Jimmy and by his brothers Patrick and Seamus. Kevin will be sadly missed and remembered with love by heartbroken mother Kay (nee Connell) and her partner Brendan, sisters Caroline Kiely and Geraldine, brothers-in-law Thomas and Stephen, cherished nieces and nephews Michaela, Jimmy, Kaitlyn, Kelly-rose, Nicole, Callum, Tommy and Zach, aunts, uncles, relatives and many friends both in Ireland and Chicago. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford (N39 EC81) on Wednesday, January 21 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, January 22 in The Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee at 12noon, interment afterwards in Clonbroney cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE.

Frank Gill, Creagh, Kenagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown, surrounded by his family on Sunday January 18, 2026 of Frank Gill, Creagh, Kenagh, Co Longford.

Pre-deceased by his parents John and Mary-ann, sisters Kathleen Kilduff and Helen Gouldsbury and by his brother Johnny. Frank will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sisters Peggy (Lynch), Betty (Parker), Susan (McDermott), Pauline (McLoughlin), Caroline (Coffey), Ann (Hewitt), Bernie (Corrigan) and Tecla (Vernon), brothers Peter and Pat, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at St. Dominic’s Church, Kenagh on Tuesday, January 20 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection in St Dominic’s Church at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 21 interment afterwards in Kilcommock cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to Longford Hospice, c/o Glennon Funeral Directors or any family member.

Eileen Keeley (née Egan), Upper Ferefad, Longford town, Co Longford / Kilbeggan, Westmeath

The death occurred unexpectedly but peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar, surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Eileen Keeley (nee Egan), Upper Ferefad, Longford and formerly of Rahugh, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.

Pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Eileen and by her step-mother Margaret. Eileen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband Paddy, sisters Maureen Lynch, brothers P.J., Joseph and Michael, uncle Tom Lee, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, godchildren Niamh, Darragh and Michael, nieces, nephews, good neighbours, loyal companion Baba and friends. May she rest in peace.

Gerry Donohoe, Berneyhill, Lough Gowna, Co Cavan

The death occurred in the wonderful care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Gerry Donohoe, Lakeview House, Berneyhill, Lough Gowna, Co Cavan.

Pre-deceased by his parents Mary Ellen and Patrick, his wife Margaret and his sister Mary. Sadly missed and deeply regretted by his daughters Bernadette, Rosemary and Geraldine, sons John and David, his adored grandchildren Louise and Grace Tierney and their dad Dominic, Jamie and Noah Mallon, Daniel, Shannon and Elle Donohoe, son in law Sean, daughter in law Min, John's partner Michele, brother Padraig and sister in law Anne, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, grandniece and grandnephews, cousins relatives and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 17, 2026 of John O'Reilly, Belville, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan.

Beloved husband of Pauline and dear father of Joanne (Paul McEvoy), Paul (Catriona), Louise and Kieron (Fiona), Pre-deceased by his parents James and Katie, his sister Margaret, brothers Pat and Tom Farrell, niece Jacinta and nephew Michéal

Maura Harten (née Dolan), Carrick, Finea, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at her home in the loving care of her devoted family on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Maura Harten (née) Dolan, Carrick, Finea, Cavan and formerly of Kilcogy.

Predeceased by her parents Tom and Mary Ellen, brothers Seamus and Thomas and sisters Eileen and Christina. Maura will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jim, son Douglas, daughters Caroline (Ronan), Fiona (Michael), Bernadine (Brendan), Marie (Matt) and Nichola (Brendan), grandchildren Ava, Peter, Shane, Sophie, Sarah, Conor, Gavin, Bobby and Charlie, brothers Paul, Peter, Brian and Noel, sisters Eithne, Phyllis, Colette and Bernadette, sons-in-law, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends. Reposing in Reillys Funeral Home Kilcogy (N39 W1D6) on Monday, January 19 from 5pm with prayers at 8pm. Removal from her home on Tuesday, January 20 arriving at St Mary's Church Carrick (N91 TH22) for 12 noon Funeral Mass. Interment afterwards to the local cemetery. House Strictly Private please.

Valerie Christine O’Sullivan, Loch Gowna, Cavan / Robertstown, Kildare

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, January 12, 2026 of Valerie Christine O'Sullivan, Lakeview, Lock Gowan, Co Cavan and formerly Robertstown, Co Kildare. 

Predeceased by her beloved son Patrick and his father Seamus Wyse. Valerie will be deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken son Thomas, daughter in law KC, loving granddaughter Bella Rose, brothers Tony, Morgan, Pat, Martin, Barry and Glen, sisters Maura, Ada, Ita and Rosaleen (RIP), brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Reposing at Glennons Funeral Home, Allenwood on Sunday, January 18 from 4pm - 6pm with prayers at 5.30pm. Removal on Monday morning, January 19 to arrive at The Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross, Dublin for cremation service at 11.15am. Valerie's service will be live streamed HERE. Joan Nea, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death occurred at home, surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family after battling a long illness on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Joan Nea, Basildon, Essex, England and formerly of Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, aged 82.

Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly missed by her loving children Pauline, Stephen and Tina, her adored grandchildren Nichola, Melissa, Martha, Siobhan and Kieran, great-grandchildren Leonyedus, Eoin, Patrick and Ahreay, daughter-in-law Lorraine, son-in-law Paul, Nichola's partner Tony, Melissa's partner Leon, Martha's husband Noel; brother David and his family in Australia; and a wide circle of friends.
