The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Sunday, September 14, 2025 of Katie Duffy (nee McQuade), Lettergullion, Ballinamuck, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband John, her parents Michael and Elizabeth, sisters Annie, Maggie, Rosie, Bea, Mary & Lizzie. Deeply regretted by her sons Pakie and Kieran, daughter-in-law Helen, sisters-in-law Anna (USA) and Sr. Kathleen (Drumlish), grandchildren Mark, Colin, Maria and Linda, great-grandchildren John, Anna, Éabha, Tommy, Ella, Rían, Cara & Oisín, cousins, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her home (N39 VH27) Monday, September 15 from 5pm to 9pm. Removal to arrive at St Patrick's Church, Ballinamuck for 11am funeral mass on Tuesday, September 16 followed by burial in Kilmahon Cemetery.

Mary Reilly (née Brady), Ballyduffy, Moyne, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025 of Mary Reilly (nee Brady), Ballyduffy, Moyne, Co Longford. 

Pre-deceased by her parents Francis and Elizabeth, brothers Francis and Pakey, infant sister Rosaleen and by her beloved husband Jim. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, brother Charlie, sisters Helen Rooney (U.S.A), Elizabeth Mulligan (Carrigallen) and Nora Mulleady (Drumlish), sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Laurel Lodge Home Chapel (N39 XE92) on Monday, September 15 from 5.30pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection in St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne on Tuesday, September 16 at 2pm, interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Conor Gearty, Abbeylara, Co Longford

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Professor Conor Anthony Gearty Kentish Town, London; formerly of Abbeylara, County Longford. 

A distinguished human rights lawyer and proud Longford man, Conor was a fantastic husband, an adored dad, a wonderful brother and son, and a warm generous friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his wife Aoife, his children Eliza, Owen, Èile and Fiadh, his mother Margot, his brother Frank, his sisters Rhona, Catherine, Margaret and Sarah, their partners and children, his in-laws, and his wide circle of friends, neighbours and colleagues. He is predeceased by his late wife Diane and his father Enda.

The funeral will take place in London and details will be shared here shortly. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. May he rest in power and peace.

Eileen Gibbons (née McGeeney) Belleeks & formerly Aughanduff, Mullaghbawn, Armagh / Lanesboro, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully at the Glencarron Nursing Home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, September 13, 2025 of Eileen Gibbons (nee Mc Geeney) Belleeks & formerly Aughanduff, Mullaghbawn, Armagh/ Lanesboro, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Kevin RIP. Cherished mother of Luke & Finbar. Dear mother in law of Ciara & Francesca. Devoted grandmother of Éile, Fiadh, Caomhán & Niamh. Daughter of the late Bernard & Susan (Anna) Mc Geeney RIP. Loving sister of Bernadette (Murphy), Siobhan, Hugh, Sean, Joseph and the late Teresa (Teasie) RIP.

Eileen will repose at her son Luke’s home at 1 Foxfield Rd, Crossmaglen BT35 9HZ from 11am on Monday morning, September 15 with visitors welcome to call and pay their respects. Funeral on Tuesday, September 16 leaving at 10:15am (house strictly private on Tuesday morning, September 16) to St Mary’s Church Mullaghbawn arriving for 11am Requiem Mass. Yvonne Chalmers, Barnacor, Lanesboro, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully but unexpectedly after a brief illness, bravely borne with courage and great faith on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Yvonne Chalmers, Barnacor, Lanesboro, Co Longford. 

Yvonne, beloved daughter of the late John and Phil Chalmers; deeply regretted by her heartbroken siblings, Tracie, Johnny, Jackie and Robert; nephews, nieces, grandnephews, relatives, colleagues and many, many friends. May Yvonne Rest in Peace.

Reposed at her home in Barnacor, Lanesboro, Co Longford, (N39 Y208), on Sunday, September 14 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass is on Monday, September 15 in St. Mary’s Church, Lanesboro at 12 noon, followed by burial in Clonbonny Cemetery. House strictly private on Monday, September 15. Patrick (Pat) Patridge, Terlicken, Ballymahon, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of all the staff of Thomond Lodge, Ballymahon on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Patrick (Pat) Patridge, Terlicken, Ballymahon, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Paddy (Patrick) and Margaret, his aunt Sr Bernadette, and his mother-in-law Nellie (Ellen) Murray. Patrick will be sadly missed & always remembered with love by his loving wife Sheila (née Murray), daughter Lorraine (Corcoran, Mayo), son Patrick Jnr., son-in-law Aiden, cherished grandchildren Keela, Dylan & Clodagh, sisters Maureen (McCarthy, Renmore, Galway) & Margaret (Dooner, Kilcommack, Kenagh), all his sisters-in-law, & brothers-in-law, nieces & nephews, relatives, extended family, neighbours, former BNM colleagues, and many friends. A proud farmer and Bord na Móna man all his life, Patrick will be fondly remembered for his love of the land and his great affection for dogs especially his beloved Billy.

The death occurred peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 13, 2025 of Patrick (Paddy) McCann, Curraghboy, formerly of Main Street, Carrigallen​​, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Catherine, his brother Mel, and his sister Nuala. Paddy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, his children Marina, Paula, Pat, and Mark; his sisters Philomena (Donohoe) and Bernadette (Killeen); sons-in-law Ivan and Tony; daughters-in-law Martina and Jana; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren Patrick, Daniel, Molly, David, Eliza, Conor, Rory, Tara, Grace, Marc, and Ella; along with extended family, neighbours, and friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12 RF78) on Monday, September 15 from 5pm to 7pm. Removal from his residence on Tuesday morning, September 16 to arrive at St. Mary's Church Carrigallen for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Rd, Cavan.

The death occurred after an illness fought with dignity on Friday, September 12, 2025 of Nan (Ann) Connolly, Ardunsaghan, Corrawallen, Drumreilly, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her husband Paddy (Patrick), parents Peter and Mary Kate, and brother J.P. Nan will be sadly missed by her loving sons, Patrick (Caitlin), Noel (Sinéad), Thomas (Philomena), Eugene (Arlene) and Fintan (Patricia), her brother Fintan, sisters Florence Corcoran (Ned), Mae Canning and Breege Keville, and sisters in law Mary Connolly and Maggie McKiernan. Removal from her residence on Monday morning, September 15 to arrive at Mary's Church, Drumreilly (H12XY92) for Funeral Mass at 12pm, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Doris Flanagan, Firmount, Clane, Kildare / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred in the loving care of all the staff at Lourdesville Nursing Home, Kildare on Friday, September 12, 2025 of Doris Flanagan, Clane, Kildare and formerly of St Anne's, Elphin Street, Strokestown, Co Roscommon. Former P.H.N. in Clane, Co Kildare.

Doris will be sadly missed by her sorrowing nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, friends, especially Helga, Jo & her loyal friend Sally. Doris is predeceased by her parents Francis & Mary, brothers Fr. Des, Bill, Brody & most recently her brother Edmond (Teddy) and by her sisters Moira, Sr. Venard & Pauline. May She rest In Peace.

Reposed at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72), on Sunday, September 14 from 5pm until 6.30pm, followed by removal to Strokestown Parish Church. Bridget Hanley (née Henry), Castlerea, Roscommon / Longford / Bornacoola, Leitrim / Mayo

The death occurred tragically on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 of Bridget Hanley (née Henry) Castlerea, Co Roscommon formerly of Longford, Bornacoola, Co Leitrim and Bekan, Co Mayo.

Predeceased by her parents John and Mary, her brother Sean and her twin brother Michael. Sadly missed by her sons Kieran and Aidan, sisters Maureen and Rita, brother P.J., half-brothers and sisters, relatives, neighbours and many good friends. May She Rest in Peace.

The death occurred peacefully at home on Sunday, August 3, 2025 of Kevin Connolly California, USA and formerly of Fanamoreen, Glasson, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Pat and Mary and his brother Brian. Sadly missed by his loving wife Dottie, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Leanne, his adoring grandchildren Quinn and Kieran, brother Pat, sisters Maureen (Ohlsen | New York, U.S.A.), Alice (Blagriff | Glasson, Westmeath) and Helen (Claffey | Rooan, Westmeath), in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. Seamus Tannian, Teffia Park, Longford and Queensland, Australia

On behalf of the entire Tannian and Czislowski family, we are bereft to announce the death of Seamus/James/Jimmy Tannian, Teffia Park, Longford and Queensland, Australia (October 5, 1944 - August 30, 2025), the day we thought and hoped would never come. Our family in Australia, Ireland, England, Spain, USA and the local Sunshine Coast, Queensland community has lost a bright light, radiant servant, leader, mentor, musician and friend. 

Seamus was a beloved husband to Linda, father to Nicola (& Sylvia), Rob (& Tania), Tracey, Sean, Kristan (& Chanelle) & Jay.
Brother to Michael (& Wendy) and Tom (& Barbara), Uncle to Fiona, Deirdre, Gail, Siobhan, Peter, Ruth, Christopher and Clare.
Grandfather to Teagan, Leusion, Kyran, Gemma, Talia, Georgia, Vienna, Thalia, Nolan, Caitlyn, Dannie, Ivy, Ava, Jordan, Aeden and Serene. Great-grandfather to Xavier, Kyron & Levi.
He was greatly loved and will be forever missed. He touched so many life's, if you knew him we know you are also grieving. 
Heaven is surely is having an "auld jam session today". Our loss is heaven's gain.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours.
