Dympna Gill (née Davis), Foynescourt, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 of Dympna Gill (née Davis), Foynescourt, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her husband Brendan, brothers Philip, Aidan and Kevin and by her sisters Maura McCann and Angela Davis.

Dympna will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family daughters Aideen Laverty (Sligo), Clodagh Hewins (U.K), Nessa Clarke (Granard) and Finola Quinn (Edgeworthstown), sisters Cáitlín Russell (U.S.A.) and Ita Donlon (Longford), sons-in-law Eddie, Simon, Aoghan and Patrick, her seven grandchildren Andrew, Eleanor, Amelia, Conor, Harry, Joseph and Thomas, sisters-in-law Christine and Vera, brother-in-law Jim, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, May 25 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, May 26 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Anne Gormley (née McKeown), Glendara, Granard, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the excellent care of the staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home in her 92nd year on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 of Anne Gormley, nee McKeown, Glendara, Granard, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Suzanne, niece Ber and nephew James. Beloved wife of Brian and much loved mother to Eileen (Tony), Maeve (Donal) and Grainne (Niall). Beloved sister to Veronica. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Brianna, Isolde and Eris Byrne. Suzie, Emmet, Fiona, Paddy and Áine Kane. Darragh and Emer McDowell, extended family of nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends. May she Rest in Peace.

Requiem Mass to be held on Friday, May 23 in Carra Church at 12 noon. Anne's remains have been removed, in accordance with her wishes, to National University of Ireland Galway, anatomy department to aid the teaching of others. John Linehan, Longford town, Longford / Buttevant, Cork

The death occurred  peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the tender loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Ward 4, Mullingar General Hospital on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 of John Linehan, Longford town and formerly Inchnagree, Buttevant, Co Cork.

Son of the late William and Margaret Linehan. John, will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, sons Ian and Liam, daughter Louise, step children; Michael, Sinitta, Sarah and Cathy, brothers;Liam, Teddy and Donie, grandchildren; Layla Rose, Andrew and Gemma, sisters-in-law, his good friends Danny, Patricia, Anne,Vinnie, Jackie and Joan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May John Rest In Peace.

John will repose in Hannon's Funeral Home, Doneraile, Co Cork H51HN30 on Thursday evening, May 22 from 7pm to 8.30pm followed by removal to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Doneraile, Eircode P51W2XF. Requiem Mass on Friday, May 23 at 2pm followed by burial in Oldcourt cemetery, Doneraile.

The Linehan family would like to express their sincere thanks to those that supported John in the final years of his life, particularly the staff of both Sancta Maria Nursing Home in Kinnegad and Laurel Lodge nursing home in Longford.

A special word of thanks to the staff of Mullingar Hospital, John received great care and attention in the final days of his life from all the staff in Ward 4 and in particular from the palliative care team. The support and kindness shown to John and to his family was very much appreciated.

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff of The Clonmacnoise Ward of The Midland Regional Hospital, Tulllamore on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 of John Horgan, (former Sergeant of 4th Motor / Cavalry Squadron), No 46 Cluain Na Sibhe, Killashee, Co Longford, N39 KW57. 

Predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his loving wife Marie, children Michelle, Clodagh, Joey, Sinéad, Roberta, Rose and their mother Rose, step-daughters Sharon and Natasha, cherished grandchildren Niamh, Nathan, Kian, Corey, Callum, Cody, Sean, Katie, Sarah, Paul, Chloe, Kayla, Lily, Rania, Khaled and Gemma. Adored great grandchildren Arlene, Indie and Noah, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, sons-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, many good friends, comrades and neighbours. May He Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his residence 46 Cluain na Sibhe, Killashee, Co Longford (N39 KW57) on Thursday, May 22 from 4pm concluding with prayers at 9pm. The family will take a break from 6pm until 6:30pm, Please follow the directions of the stewards, thank you. Removal from his home on Friday, May 23 to St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by cremation service in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan (Eircode H12 RF78) arriving at 4:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please go to www.longfordparish.com The cremation service will also be streamed live on https://churchservices.tv/lakelands (Password is Crem23F)

Pat (Patrick) Kilkenny, Aughavains, Loch Gowna, Cavan, H12 RR92

The death occurred after a long illness at Cavan General Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 of Pat (Patrick) Kilkenny, Aughavains, Loch Gowna, Cavan and formerly of Cornea. Predeceased by his parents Eddie and Anna-Mae, and his sister Bríd. Sadly missed by his devoted wife Brenda, children; Marc, Derek and John, daughters-in-law; Grace and Alex, grandchildren; Sasha, Luca, Evie and Max, brothers and sisters; Seamus (JP), Margaret, Eamon, Patricia, Sean, Aidan and Terry, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing at his home (H12 RR92) on Thursday, May 22 from 4pm until 8pm sharp. Arriving at the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna (H12FT54) on Friday, May 23 for Funeral Mass at 12 pm. Transfer afterwards to Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12 RF78). House Private Friday morning please.

The death occurred peacefully after a short illness at the Regional Hospital Mullingar on Monday, May 19, 2025 of John Riordan Ballymahon, Co Longford and formerly of Caherguillamore, Meanus, Co Limerick.

Beloved son of the late John Joe. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving mother Peggy (nee Burke), siblings, children, uncles, aunts, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and his friends. Rest In Peace.

Liam Kelleher, Lannanaria, Corlough, Cavan / Milltown, Dublin

The recent death has occurred peacefully in his 91st year, in the kind and loving care of the staff in Oakview Nursing Home, Belturbet, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 of Liam Kelleher, Lannanaria, Corlough, Cavan/ Milltown, Dublin.

Liam is predeceased by his parents Tommy & Maggie and his sister Eileen. Liam will be sadly missed by his loving sister Maureen, brother Oliver (Maureen), brother-in-law Patsy (Prior), cherished nieces Regina, Olivia, Aisling, Michelle, Noelle & Yvonne, nephews Peter, Patrick, Ronan & Derek, his adored grandnieces and grandnephews and his wide circle of family, neighbours & friends in both Corlough and Dublin. Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home, High St., Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, N41 TD62 on Wednesday evening, May 21 from 6pm until 8pm. Removal from his brother Oliver’s home on Thursday morning, May 22 arriving at St Patrick’s Church, Corlough for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. James (Jimmy) Irwin, Brittas, Glasson, Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully at Beckett Nursing Home in Newport Pagnell UK on Monday, April 28, 2025 of James (Jimmy) Irwin, formerly of Brittas, Glasson Westmeath and residing in the UK.

Jimmy was predeceased by his wife Annette. He will be sadly missed by his sons Ralph and Andrew, daughter-in-law Jane, grandson Ashley, sister Bridie, brother Joe, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, May 29 at 12.30pm, at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Newport Pagnell, followed by burial for family members only. Family flowers only but donations can be made via www.hwmason.co.uk (funeral directors) to Alzheimer’s UK.

Elizabeth O'Reilly (née McNaboe), North West London and formerly of Rosduff, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the death of Elizabeth O’Reilly (nee McNaboe) formerly of Rosduff, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford, now North West London, at home on Thursday, May 1, 2025. In Loving Memory. 

Predeceased by her husband Johnny. She will be sadly missed by her brother John Pat, children Marie, Ann, Michael and Susan, sons- in-law, daughter in-law, grandchildren, great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

John Caulfield, Longford

The death occurred in London, England aged 90 on Saturday, April 26, 2025 of John Caulfield, native of County Longford.A great Gaelic footballer he played for Colmcille in the 50’s and 60’s as well as for the County team and played for Erin’s Hope and St Vincent’s in London and had strong connections with the Round Towers.

His funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, June 4 at the Holy Ghost Church, Nightingale Lane Balham at 10.30 with Funeral afterwards at Morden Cemetery. Please pray for his soul.

Patricia Peters (née Dooner), Rooskey, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully  in the presence of her loving family after an unexpected short illness, under the excellent care of the ICU staff at King’s College Hospital London on Friday, April 18, 2025 of Patricia Peters (née Dooner), Sevenoaks, Kent, UK and formerly Rooskey, Roscommon. 

Beloved wife of Alan and dear mother of Michelle and Chris, step-mother to David, sister to Seamus Dooner and cherished nana to Oliver, Daniel and Emily. Pat will also be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law and son-in-law and her dear cousins and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. May Pat rest in peace.

Funeral Mass will take place at St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 1ER, on June 5 at 2pm (live-stream available).
