Michael (Mike) Hanley, Cashelbeg, Lanesboro, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Saturday, October 26 of Michael (Mike) Hanley, Cashelbeg, Lanesboro, Longford. Predeceased by his father Edward, mother Mary, brothers Gerry & Ned, sisters Mary & Margaret.

Deeply missed by his beloved wife Eileen, son Michael and daughters Siobhan and Marie, his adored grandchildren Ryan, Ellie Mai, Kevin, Conor, Emma, Shay, Darragh, Jamie and Brodie, his brothers Johnny, Jimmy & Paddy, his sisters Francis, Kathy & Annie, daughter in law Una, sons in law Brian & Shawn, nieces, nephews, sisters in law, brothers in law, wonderful friends, neighbours and relatives. May Michael Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his son Michael's home, Cashelbeg, Lanesboro (N39K7K3) on Monday, October 28 from 3pm to 9pm with prayers at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday, October 29 to St Mary's Church, Lanesboro arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Rathcline Cemetery. Family Flowers only please, donations if desired to the Longford Branch of the Alzheimer's Society. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE

Danny Conway, Connolly Crescent, Longford Town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 of Danny Conway, Connolly Crescent, Longford town. Predeceased by his parents and by his sister Marie. Danny will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Patricia, daughter Caroline, sons John, Vinny and Mark, sister Ena, daughters-in-law Kay, Joanne and Dawn, sons-in-law Barry and Stephen, grandchildren Katelynn, Kian, Devin, Rían, Jake, Sam, Holly, Leila, Max and Ollie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, October 27 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, October 28 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please go to www.longfordparish.com House private please.

Andrew Downes, St Edna's Ward, Mullingar, Westmeath / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the excellent care of the staff and nurses at St Edna's, after a short illness, bravely borne with great courage and dignity on Thursday, October 24 of Andrew Downes, St Edna's Ward, Mullingar, Westmeath and formerly of Sunnyside, Lisnamuck, Co Longford. Predeceased by his parents Thomas (Mossie) and Annie (Nancy) and his brother Noel. Andrew will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his sister Patricia and brother Tommy, brother-in-law Phil, sister-in-law Vera, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, Aunt Bridie and his extended family. May Andrew's gentle soul rest in peace. 

Reposing at the chapel at Cluain Lir Care Centre, Mullingar, on Tuesday October 29, from 10am with Requiem Mass at 11am, followed immediately afterwards by burial in Ballymacormack Cemetery, Co Longford.

Catherine McCormack, Kenagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, October 24 of Catherine McCormack, Kenagh, Longford, formerly of England. Predeceased by her father, stepfather, sister Agnes and brother Joe. Catherine will be sadly missed by all who loved her dearly, her mother Christina, her sons Martyn (Houten) and Anthony (McCormack), daughter-in-law Deirdre, her adored grandchildren Tara, Darian and Harvey, brother, sister, relatives, neighbours and good friends. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace Catherine.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford, N39 KN66 on Sunday, October 27 from 6pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal to St Dominic's Church, Kenagh on Monday, October 28 for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed with removal to lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Rd, Cavan, H12 RF78 for a Cremation Service at 2pm.

Margaret Keogh (née Smyth), Freehalman House, Longford / Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Friday, October 25 of Margaret Keogh (née Smyth), Freehalman House, Longford and formerly Dalveen House, Ballymachugh, Cavan. Predeceased by her parents and by her sisters Eilis (Dunboyne) and Annette (Cavan).

Margaret will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband James, son Michael, daughter-in-law Audrey , grandson Marcus, sister Kay (Enniskerry), brothers Donal (Ballymachugh), Seamus (Ballymachugh) and Brian (Tullamore), sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

John (Johnny) Foley, Clarehall, Dublin/ Edgeworthstown, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of staff at St Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown on Thursday, October 24 of John (Johnny) Foley,  Edgeworthstown and formerly of Clarehall, Dublin. 

Loving son of the late John and Mary. Beloved father of Maria, Anthony and Gary, adored grandad of Leo, Sadie, Jamie, Caoimhe and Oliver. John will be very sadly missed by his sons and daughter, son-in-law, David daughter-in-law, Natalie, grandchildren, brother Con and sisters, Margaret, Anne, Theresa and the late Catherine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. "May his gentle soul rest in peace."

Reposing at Jennings Funeral Home, Oscar Traynor Road, Coolock, D17FK58 on Monday afternoon October 28 from 2pm to 4pm. Removal on Tuesday morning, October 29 to the Church of St Benedict’s, Grangepark arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial in Balgriffin Ext Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed HERE

Mervyn Michael Richard Stafford, 3 Sheelin View, Killyfassey, Mountnugent, Cavan / Ballinagh, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital on Friday, October 25, 2024 ofm Mervyn Michael Richard Stafford, 3 Sheelin View, Killyfassey, Mountnugent and formerly of Derrin, Ballinagh and Birmingham. Son of the late Victor & Elizabeth and brother of the late Thelma. Sadly missed by Margaret, his children; Richard, Felicity, Elizabeth and their brother & sisters Gareth, Lucy, Kylie and the late Emma, grandchildren, sister Hazel (Geddes) brother's Derek (Marguerite) and Roy (Marie), nephews, nieces, relatives, all his good friends and dog Mickey.

Resting at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck (A82 DX59), on Sunday evening, October 27 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Service on Monday, October 28 at 2pm in St Patrick's Church, Kildrumferton (A82 RX43). Can also be viewed online HERE. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to The Respiratory Dept. Ann Gaffney, Legwee, Loughduff, Cavan / Castlebaldwin, Sligo

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024 of Ann Gaffney, Legwee, Loughduff, Co Cavan and Carrowkeel Lodge, Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo. Predeceased by her parents Anna-May and Mick. Sadly missed by her heartbroken sister Mary Smith, brother in law Owensie, uncle Hughie, nephew Donal (Charlene), nieces Annmarie (Mickey), Catherine (Christopher), and Siobhan (Richard), grand nieces and grand nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Thanks to the community of Cregg House and Carrowkeel Lodge where Ann was so lovingly cared for. May she rest in peace. Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy N39 W1D6 on Sunday evening, October 27 from 4pm to 6pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday in St Joseph's Church, Loughduff (H12F968) at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in local cemetery. House private please.

Catherine Stevenson (née McDonald), Cloverwell, Edgeworthstown, Longford / Killinarden, Dublin

The death occurred peacefully in the company of her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at the Ciúin Suite at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Saturday, October 19, 2024 of Catherine Stevenson (née McDonald), Cloverwell, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford and formerly of Killinarden, Tallaght and Devenish Road, Dublin.

Predeceased by her father Davey. Catherine will be very sadly missed and forever remembered by her partner James, daughter Louise and son David, their father Richard, son-in-law Barry, daughter-in-law Sinead, her cherished grandchildren Katie, Ryan and Leah; Emily, Leah, Lacey and Jack, brother Damien, nephew, nieces, relatives and many friends. May Catherine rest in peace. At Catherine’s request, a private funeral has taken place.
