Gerard (Gerry) Egan, Canal Court, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred peacefully, in the care of the wonderful staff at the Regional Hospital, Mullingar, following a short illness on Saturday, December 30, 2023 of Gerard (Gerry) Egan, Canal Court, Longford Town, Longford and formerly of USA and Clondra, Co Longford. Gerry is predeceased by his parents Michael and Mai, sister Anne, brothers Dermot and PJ.
Gerard will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family, sisters Christine, Mary, Emily and Doreen, his brothers Tom, Alfie, Paddy and Kevin, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of family and friends, here and in the USA. May he rest in peace. Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford (N39 EC81) on Thursday, January 4 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. A private cremation will take place. Gerard’s ashes to be interred in Clondra cemetery at a later date.

Annette Farrell, Demesne, Longford Town, Longford / Kenagh, Longford


The death occurred suddenly at her residence on Saturday, December 30, 2023 of Annette Farrell, 11 The Demesne, Longford and formerly of Derryhaun, Kenagh, Longford. Pre-deceased by her parents Pat and Molly and her brother John. Annette will be sadly missed by her sister Mary, cousins, relatives, neighbours & friends. May Annette rest in peace.
Reposing at Farrell's Funeral Home (N39 E761), Lanesboro on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5pm to 6pm, followed by removal to St Mel's Cathedral, Longford arriving at 6:30pm. Berney Rowley, Creive, Killoe, Longford


The death occurred in Mullingar Regional Hospital with his dearly loved family by his side on Sunday, December 31, 2023 of Berney Rowley, Crieve, Killoe, Co Longford. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Ellen, brothers Paddy, Jimmy, Jack, Petie and sister Nanny. Berney will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family, his beloved wife Rita, daughters Gráinne and Donna, son-in-law Aidan Murphy (Clonca, Edgeworthstown), adored grandchildren Albie and Kayleigh, sisters Ellie Farrell (Carrabeg) and Molly Quinn (Drumshanbo South), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and his many dear friends. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Rest in Peace Barney.
Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford, N39 KN66, on Wednesday, January 3 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Removal from his home on Thursday, January 4 to arrive to St Oliver's Church, Cullyfad, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Berney will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

The death occurred unexpectedly at home on Friday, December 29, 2023 of Patrick (Padraig) McNally, Skerries, Co. Dublin (originally Dromod, Co Leitrim) and Dublin City University. Son of the late Jack McNally. Sadly missed by his loving wife Catherine (Ware), sons Niall and Conor, mother Milly, sisters Maura and Anne (Garbett), brother John, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, relatives, extended family, colleagues and a large circle of friends. Beloved wife of the late Paddy. Catherine McLoughlin, Columbia, Maryland, USA and formerly of Corraslira, Strokestown, Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully at the residence of her daughter Caitriona, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 of Catherine McLoughlin, Columbia, Maryland, USA and formerly of Corraslira, Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by her parents, Joe and Kate McLoughlin. She is deeply regretted by her children, Siobhan Engels, Brendan Hayes and Caitríona Hayes, their father John, her dear grandchildren Fiona, Maya, Adrian, Méabh and Ruadhán, her siblings Maura McLoughlin-Lundon and Joe McLoughlin, brother-in-law Denis Lundon, her nieces Denise, Michelle, Catherine and her nephew Dara.
She is sadly missed and will be lovingly remembered by her family, relations and her many great friends in Ireland and in the USA. She was widely known for her involvement with many societies celebrating Irish culture, music, poetry and literature, her immense success in varied fields from her graduate studies and through her work as a respected and trusted realtor, but foremost for her kindness and compassion to her fellow man.
Catherine will repose at Harry H. Witzke’s Funeral Home, in Ellicott City, Maryland on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 2-4pm ET, and 7-9pm ET. Funeral mass to celebrate Catherine’s life will be held on Friday, January 5 at 10am ET at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Wilde Lake, Columbia, MD. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.

Funeral cortege leaving the family home on Tuesday, January 2 at 1.15pm arriving at Killegar Parish Church at 2pm for funeral service followed by burial in the adjoining church yard.
