Bornacoola farm fails to sell at auction

A Longford town auctioneer is hopeful of securing a buyer for an 81 acre Bornacoola farm after it was withdrawn from auction last week.


John Farrell of Farrell Brothers Auactioneering said talks with a number of parties was ongoing over the proposed sale of the farm at Clooneen, Bornacoola.

This, despite the holding failing to go under the hammer at a public auction at the Longford Arms Hotel last Friday.

“Negotiations are ongoing with a number of parties and there has been strong interest,” he said.

The farm comes with a single storey farmhouse, out offices with extensive frontage to both the River Shannon and Lough Forbes.

Meanwhile Sean Dalton of Dalton's Auctioneers is accepting final offers on 13.48 acres of good agricultural land at Lismoy, Newtownforbes which is on the market at €65,000 or nearest offer.
