Black Friday in Longford has been one of the most successful shopping days ever experienced by the town.

That’s according to Longford Chamber of Commerce whose spokesperson Derek Scanlon told the Leader this evening that many retailers reported being consistently busy from 9 am this morning.

“It has been a great success,” added Mr Scanlon.

“Many of the retailers in town have been busy since this morning and the majority of off-street car parks have been full throughout the day.”

With in-store offers all day and many retailers opting for 10% and 20% discounts, shoppers from all over the region flocked to the town today in an affort to grab a much coveted bargain.

There were also vouchers ups for grabs and flash offers in numerous retail outlets during the day.

“It has been a great day for Longford town, it has been one of the busiest shopping days ever,” said Mr Scanlon.

Longford town is the first in Ireland to celebrate Black Friday which aims to encourage locals to come out in force and grab some Christmas bargains before the festive rush begins.
