The 85th annual Mohill Agricultural Show will take place on August 19 next in the picturesque south Leitrim village. The Show which has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1926 attracts followers from all over the Country and incorporates - with each passing year - some very worthy prizes along the way. The event guarantees to be a competitive affair, but one which will also become a fun-filled day out for all the family.

This year, qualifiers for the All-Ireland Championships, organised by the Irish Shows Association include The A Browne Fill Foal Championship; Traditional Irish Sport Horse Foal Championship; Pegus Feed Mare & Foal Championship; Parkmore Equestrian Centre Irish Draught Fill Foal Championship; Greenvale Animal Feeds Beef Heifer Championship; Connacht Gold Beef Bullock Championship and The Chocolate Cook of the Year Championship. “Mohill Show Committee is deeply indebted to its many loyal and generous sponsors who have contributed greatly to helping it to reach this landmark occasion, and we look forward to the support of the whole Community as we finalise preparations for Sunday August 19 next,” the spokesperson concluded.
Mohill’s first show was held on October 29, 1844 and continued for many decades. In 1926 Canon MJ Masterson revived the tradition of Mohill Show with the formation of a new committee who laid the foundation stone for a long and successful history of ‘Show Days’ in the Community.
