Ballymahon could become the main focus of fresh inward investment to the county, a meeting was told this week.
The issue was the subject of much discussion at a south Longford area roads meeting as councillors re-opened the county’s increasing difficulties in attracting IDA support.
Cllr Barney Steele said it was time council chiefs started looking at possible locations to secure investment for the town.
He pointed to a five to six acre site just outside Ballymahon town, claiming its proximity to nearby Athlone made it ideal for possible inward investment purposes.
