A survey carried out by the Farming Independent recently revealed that forestry land near Edgeworthstown, Co Longford recorded the lowest land sale price in the North Leinster region.
The land was sold for just €2,200/ac.
The figures published yesterday, January 7, covered 39 land sales in Longford, Dublin, Louth, Meath, Westmeath and Offaly, and indicated that the average price paid for agricultural land in North Leinster in 2013 was €10,070/ac.
The largest land sale in the country was seen when €5m was paid for Dowth Hall on 420ac in Meath.
The total amount paid for land in the region was €24,974,850.
The lowest price paid in the Connacht/Ulster region was €1,545/ac, which was paid for 55ac of forestry in Frenchpark, Co Roscommon.
Meanwhile, in Cavan, land sales were between €5,500 and €7,700/ac.
