McDonalds is creating at least 90 jobs in Carrick-on-Shannon.
McDonald’s has confirmed it is to open its newest restaurant in Ireland in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, creating at least 90 jobs initially.
The new restaurant at the Attifinlay Roundabout on the Dublin Road in the town is set to open on Wednesday, 8th November, with customers able to order their food in-restaurant and via the drive-thru.
The development will comprise a 418 sq.m. two-storey restaurant, with 31 car parking spaces (including two mobility impaired spaces, three electric vehicle spaces and two grill bays), bicycle parking and an outdoor seating area.
New roles created at the restaurant will range from crew member to managerial and will include both full and part time positions. Like all McDonald's restaurants across Ireland, the beef, bacon, milk, water and eggs served in the Carrick-on-Shannon restaurant will be 100% Irish.
McDonald’s Franchisee Elaine Sterio said: “This major investment in Carrick-on-Shannon reflects McDonald’s commitment to growing its business in Ireland and will create significant levels of employment, both directly and indirectly through the agri-food, manufacturing and construction sectors.
“As a major employer throughout Ireland, we expect to create more than 90 jobs initially and we are hopeful that number will increase significantly going forward as we become embedded in the area.”
Elaine, who also operates McDonald's restaurants Navan, Monaghan, Dundalk, Drogheda and Balbriggan, said that forging strong community links in Carrick-on-Shannon and the surrounding area will be a key focus for the restaurant team in the months ahead.
“McDonald’s is committed to serving the local communities around our restaurants, so we are very much looking forward to building relationships with local community groups and organisations in Carrick-on-Shannon and the surrounding area.”
The new Carrick-on-Shannon restaurant brings McDonald’s portfolio of restaurants in Ireland to 95, all of which are operated by Franchisees, employing more than 7,000 staff.
