One of the region’s largest rural events, the Lanesboro Horse Fair, will take place on Saturday, March 2, next.
Now in its 15th year, the annual fair is firmly established as the leading horse fair in the midlands, and has become a very special event in the town’s calendar since its revival.
As in previous years, it is expected to attract plenty of visitors from far and wide. The fair, which will once again take place at its usual venue in the field behind St Mary’s Church, is a celebration of all that is good about rural life in Lanesboro and the surrounding areas.
It will provide plenty to entertain and amuse for the legions of horse-lovers who are expected to descend on the picturesque south Longford town for the event. There will be horse, pony and donkey sales, and there will be a variety of stalls selling horse tackle, handmade porcelain pieces, outdoor working clothes, baked goods, and many other items.
Local arts and crafts will also be a featured and there will also be a prize for the best Horse of the Fair which is sponsored by Leavy Memorials. For more info contact (087) 9140903.
