Exhibitors from across the region are being invited to participate in this year’s Longford agri show which takes place in just four weeks time.
The Co Longford Show and Country Fair will be held on Saturday, July 27 next in the picturesque setting of Moydow and is sponsored by local firm Green Farm Foods.
There are classes ranging from cattle, horse, sheep and goats to arts and crafts, musical entertainment in the form of Richie Kavanagh and plenty of activities and fun for the kids - making this year’s event a fun filled day out for all the family.
“In the horse classes we have a number of top prizes including a free shernice of any sports horse at Bridge House Stud,” Bernie Whyte, Show Committee added. “The Colt and Filly Foal Championships will also take place with prizes of €500 up for grabs.
“We will also have draft class, the young horse class, riding classes and a new class rider class for Co Longford this year as well; there will also be Welsh ponies and Longford Show is delighted to hold miniature horse classes this year.”
In the cattle classes new rules will apply. “A certificate of Compliance must accompany all cattle to the Show,” Ms Whyte continued. “Classes include Friesian, Shorthorn, Hereford, Aberdeen Angus, Simmental, Charolais, Limousin, Belgian Blue, and commercial cattle.
There will be top prizes of up to €100 on offer, and we also have the Young Stock Person class which is open to boys and girls between 12 and 17 years of age.”
On the day, there will be sheep, goats and poultry classes as well as plenty of arts and crafts competitions that are guaranteed to result in mouthwatering delights for show goers.
The Dog Show is also back by popular demand and Outdoor Discovery from Ballymahon will also be on hand with its outdoor activity centre to entertain the kids, and there will also be a bouncy castle, face painting and lots, lots more!
