John Waters to visit Longford

Longford County Library in association with Ardagh Book Club will host an evening with popular newspaper columnist and author John Waters on Wednesday next, November 16 at 7.30 pm in Longford Library.

John will discuss 'The Second Coming of the Page: a Reflection on the Importance of Paper in the future of Democracy, Literature and Humanity'.

John’s talk will focus on his belief that the printed page is indispensable to the processes of writing, reading, exercising citizenship and maintaining civility in public discourse, and that electronic substitutes present a conversation that is coarser, much reduced and divisive.

County Librarian, Mary Carleton Reynolds, is delighted that John is coming to Longford to share his views, commenting; “John is an original thinker who always has something interesting to say and enjoys challenging  his readers through his columns and his fiction,” she said.

All are welcome.
