Oliver McNerney, who is known to many as the former Shannonside Northern Sound DJ, Oliver Muldoon, recently found himself rubbing shoulders with Bob Geldof.

Oliver, who now lives in the city of Perth in Western Australia, was acting as the MC at the St Patrick’s Day parade in the town of Leederville, when he met the Irish rock legend, who was in town to officially open the festivities – which were the first to be held in the area for the past five years.

Unlike Ireland, the weather in Perth was exceptionally warm for St Patrick’s weekend, with the parade being held on a fine autumn day with a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius.

Over 15,000 people now live in and around Perth, with many employed in the mining and construction industries.

Oliver still has a love for radio broadcasting and he now hosts a popular show on Capital Radio in Perth, where he plays songs to a wide selection of Irish and Australian artists. Listeners in Ireland can tune-in to his show online by going to www.capitalcommunityradio.com.
