Poll - Celebrity Bainisteoir

Newtowncashel are hopping on the Celebrity Bainisteoir train this year. But which celebrity will take over the reins?

There is much speculation as to who it might be. It should not be too difficult to ascertain as RTE appear to running out of celebrities quite rapidly. Gavan Duffy, Mairead Farrell, Marty Whelan, Nuala Carey, John Waters and Baz have all already done it. Other former ‘celebrity’ managers include John McGuire and solicitor Gerald Kean, two men who would seriously have to boost their profiles to earn the tag of nonentity.

But who are the contenders...

Georgia Salpa is a veteran of reality shows and has to be installed as one of the red-hot favourites.

Mel Gibson, an Aughnacliffe man of some renown, is known to be eager to rehabilitate his career (again) after allegations of anti-Semite. What better way to calm Jewish fears than to take a trip to... Newtowncashel.

We contend that Declan Nerney should be considered a serious contender at this stage given his local pedigree.

Craig Doyle, meanwhile, is probably wondering what he has to do to get asked at this stage, and has to be regarded as a strong contender.

(Not to mention Paidi O’Se, for whom the show represents the last viable chance to get a managerial gig.)

This question is the subject of our Leader Poll this week? Who do you reckon it will be?
