On Thursday, September 19, local writer Edward Denniston will launch his latest collection ‘The Scale of Things’ in the Backstage Theatre.
Now teaching English and Drama in Waterford, Longford native Edward is to launch ‘The Scale of Things’ in memory of his mother Aileen, who passed away in 2011. Speaking to the Leader, Edward explains that a lot of the poems in the book were inspired by his childhood in Longford, with a few inspired by his mother and his family. With this in mind, having already launched the book in Waterford in early June, Edward decided to return home to have a Longford launch dedicated to his mother.
Though he has read in the Theatre before, when he contributed to an anthology with a number of Longford writers, this will be Edward’s first solo reading in his hometown, and he is looking forward to the event.
This is not Edward’s first publication, however. The writer has already published three books, an E-book, called ‘Eskimo advice’, a book of short sketches and dramas entitled ‘Interacting – 60 Drama Scripts’ and ‘The Point Of Singing’.
Edward will launch ‘The Scale of Things’, published by Salmon poetry, in the Backstage Theatre on Thursday, September 19.
