There was an atmosphere of fun and excitement in the Longford Library last Friday, as the Children of Winnie the Pooh (Vinnijpuks) Latvian school got the chance to show off all they had learned throughout the year.

The children, all pupils of the Drumlish school run by Olita Lagzdina, performed for their families, giving a wonderful presentation of Latvian culture through the medium of song and dance. Special guests on the day were Vija Busa, a representative from the Latvian Embassy, Cllr Peggy Nolan and Cllr Martin Mulleady.

“We’re really happy” says Olita “the kids were excited and the parents were excited”.

As well as celebrating their talents - all honed with drama, music and dance classes in the Latvian school, the children were also celebrating their last day before the summer holidays. Those graduating were presented with certificates by special guest Vija Busa.
