Preparations are almost complete for the Longford Rose selection night, which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, at 8pm in the Longford Arms Hotel.
2013 Rose Aisling Farrell did her county proud in last year’s competition, managing to get all the way to The Dome to represent Longford on the International stage. Now, she prepares to hand over her sash to one of the eleven ladies who will take to the stage tomorrow night.
Each contestant will be treated to a makeover by local Make-up Artist Daneka Wilson, while Pauline Belton of Grafters Hair Co will take care of all the girls’ hair needs. A gift, sponsored by Baxter’s Chemist, and flowers, from Blooms Florist will be presented to each contestant on the night. What’s more, the 2014 Longford Rose will be presented with a voucher for a year’s free hairdressing from Grafters Hair Co. The escorts are being well looked after too, by Matt O’Brien.
Speaking to the Leader before the event, member of the Longford Rose Committee and former Longford Rose, Grainne Fox said, “We’re really looking forward to the night. Aisling Farrell did us so proud, and whoever wins will have big shoes to fill!
“Thanks to Aisling and to everyone who helped her during the year,” she added.
The event will be hosted by MC Benny O’Brien, who will speak to each of the girls in turn, before the judges make their decision.
Some of the Roses will perform on the night, and local girl group Celtic Chique will also return to the Longford Arms stage.
Tickets, costing €15 are available on the door on the night.
