On Saturday June 11 the biggest fundraiser music festival in County Longford will get underway. Helium 2011 is set to be an event to remember with a line up of acts not to be missed.
The Coronas, KILA, Jamie Lawson, Ham Sandwich and Tupelo are just some of the acts scheduled to entertain the gathering masses on the Helium Main Stage. Set in Skelly’s Bar, Ballymahon, Helium 2011 will take place across three stages. Over the course of the weekend there will also be a number of discounted activities on offer such as white water tubing and zorbing, as well as free camping, parking and food.
Aside from the great fun, there is also the fact that this whole event is being organised in aid of a very worthy cause – The Friedrichs’ Ataxia Society of Ireland (www.fasi.ie). Sufferers of Friedrichs’ Ataxia can find themselves limited and debilitated by their condition. However, with the help of groups like FASI their quality of life can and does improve. Helium 2010 raised €10,000 for this cause and these funds were put to good use by FASI in their ongoing work.
To date Helium 2011 ticket sales are going well. Consequently committee members are urging locals to be sure to get their tickets soon and not to miss out as there is a limited capacity for a very strong line up.
Other acts performing on the Neon Stage and The Stables Stage include Jukebox Gypsy, Bocs Social, The Barley Mob, Breaking Circles, Adela and the Meanits, The Aftermath, Spiritual Leaders, Niceol Blue, The Old Soul Brigade, We Go Go, Sister Lovers, Ricotta, Peter Doran, Fergal Cox, Rusty Shackleford, and The Driftwood Manor.
Tickets are still available online at www.tickets.ie, from committee members or from outlets throughout the region including Music World, Athlone, The Music Centre, Longford and E2 Music, Mullingar. Tickets are also available from all Xtravision outlets.
