If you have nothing planned for this weekend, don’t worry! We have compiled a list of events taking place throughout the region.
Art & Soul, an exhibition by Fetac Level 5 and 6 students of Templemichael College, Longford, will remain open daily until Monday, June 2. The exhibition, held in the old Providers shop, Main Street, Longford, opens from 12pm to 5pm.
Marion Prendergast and Jo Purkis from Killoe will shave their heads to raise money for Lauralynn House and St James’ Hospital Foundation. The event will take place in Coy’s Bar, Longford on Friday, May 30. There will also be a monster raffle on the night.
Ice Cream Fun day
The annual Hazelbrook Farm Ice Cream Fun day event will be held at the house of Arthur and Loretta Stewarts, Bundoon, Killoe on Friday, May 30 from 12 noon to 6pm. All proceeds in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland.
Night at the Dogs
Cloontuskert National School is holding a fundraising Night at the Dogs on Friday, May 30 at Longford Greyhound Stadium with the first race scheduled for 8pm.
The annual Goldsmith International Literary Festival will take place from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1.
The stars of American Wrestling will visit the Longford Arms Hotel on Saturday, May 31 at 7.30pm.
Charity car wash
Saturday, May 31, sees firefighters and helpers from Castlepollard Fire and Rescue Service carrying out their annual charity car wash on The Square, Castlepollard from 10am to 4pm.
Clondra harbour festival
A huge range of events are planned for Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 for the Clondra Harbour Festival.
Longford Vintage Club’s annual show will take place on Sunday, June 1 in Connolly Barracks, Longford.
Cycle and climb
The 4th annual Glenn Brady Cycle and Climb from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday, June 1.
Newcastle House Mass
The NewCfest Music Festival will host an open air Mass on Sunday, June 1 in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Mass will be held on the grounds of Newcastle House Estate, Ballymahon at 4pm.
Clonguish GFC are having a barbeque night on Sunday, June 1 at 9pm at the Complex. Music by Brian Ross and Pascal, Liz and Davy. Tickets cost €10.
Open air Festival
The 40th annual Dring Open Air Festival, hosted by the Colmcille Branch of St Christopher’s Services, will take place this Sunday, June 1.
