At the end of this month, the Backstage Theatre will play host to ‘Razzle Dazzle em’, the 12th annual show by the Longford Variety Group.
From Wednesday, November 27 to Saturday, November 30, audiences will be captivated by the talented cast as they perform to raise money for the Longford Hospice and other local charities.
“This show is performed by Longford people, for Longford people,” explains director and producer, Brian Murray. Many familiar faces will be returning to the show, Brian explains, but the group has also welcomed a number of newcomers. “I have a terrific bunch of friends working with me” Brian admits, adding “I couldn’t do it without them”
Originally started by Brian, the annual show has gone from strength to strength since its establishment, growing in popularity with each year. This year, that success looks set to continue, with well-known locals including Paul Gurney, Amy Duignan and John Kelly lined up to help out. Furthermore, St Christopher’s, the Peelo School of Dance and Tanden Dojo are going to take part, performing pieces of their own.
Audiences can also look forward to hearing favourites from ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Pretty Woman’, amongst others, with dancing and comedy added to the bill to create two incredible acts of high quality entertainment. “There’s something for everybody,” Brian promises. What’s more, a raffle will take place at the interval, with proceeds going to local charities.
‘Razzle Dazzle em’ will be launched tomorrow, Thursday, in Dan Foley’s Bar, Ballymahon Street, where further show details will be revealed.
Tickets to the show, costing €12/€8, can be purchased online at www.backstage.ie. Alternatively, you can call the Backstage Theatre’s box office on 043 33 47888.
