Longford town set for ‘Mini Mayo’ transformation

Longford town business leaders are planning on turning Longford into a 'Little Mayo' to celebrate the Connacht champions march to this year's All-Ireland final.
Longford town is set to be turned into a ‘Mini Mayo’ later this month in an attempt to attract up to 20,000 visitors to the region.

The occasion is designed to coincide with the Connacht champions quest for Sam Maguire glory later this month as James Horan’s troops go head to head with Dublin at GAA headquarters.

Fronted by members from Longford Business Forum and the Chamber of Commerce, Longford town will become a sea of red and green from September 20-22.

Among the many ideas drawn up include renaming approach roads, decorating business premises and even holding a special ‘Aidan O’Shea’ haircut competition.
