Road Bowling, Wheelbarrow Races and ceili dancing – Clondra is the place to be this June, as they celebrate the Clondra Gathering Festival with a day of tradition, music and fun.

In conjunction with the Gathering 2013, a number of competitions and events to suit all tastes have been planned for Sunday June 2.

From 11-11.30am, an under 15’s Fishing Competition will take place, followed by prize giving and refreshments for the competitors. Free Boat trips will be on offer, weather permitting, and there will be canoe demonstrations for teenagers.

At 3.30pm, there will be Ceili Dancing and Old Time Waltzing on the Harbour. Armagh and Longford will face off in a Road Bowling battle at 5pm.

The event will also see the Gathering of Slane Cutters in Clondra, where those in attendance will get the chance to try their hand at the traditional method of turf-cutting. Slanes will be provided, as well as refreshments for all Slane Cutters. To complement the day’s events, The Richmond Inn will be hosting local artists for some Irish Country Music.
