Looking forward to the Patsy Farrell Festival

Mention the name Patsy Farrell (1929 - 2002) to any music fan in Longford and a smile will cross their face. On August 1 a week-long festival celebrating traditional Irish music in counties Longford and Westmeath, will drum into action at the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule.

Mention the name Patsy Farrell (1929 - 2002) to any music fan in Longford and a smile will cross their face. On August 1 a week-long festival celebrating traditional Irish music in counties Longford and Westmeath, will drum into action at the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule.

On this night Foster & Allen will launch the inaugural Patsy Farrell Festival and afterwards there will be an open session led by Packie Campbell, Tom Skelly and many other musicians who host an open session every Wednesday night in the Rustic Inn. Also on the Thursday night, there will be an open session with Martin Donohoe and Noel Sweeney in Foley’s Bar, Ballymahon Street, Longford.

Over a period of eight days (ending Wednesday August 8), this landmark festive week will consist of an incredible 24 sessions held across 11 towns and villages in both counties. Performers such as Willie Kavanagh, Laura Kavanagh, Sean Marshall, Noel Sweeney, Noel Carber and Sean Thompson, will take up their instruments and delight eager audiences.For a full list of venues, dates and times, please visit www.patsyfarrellfestival.com
