Longford’s autumn/winter schedule of events under The Evening Edit has been a real success story. Supported by Longford County Council Night-Time Economy Grant Scheme, the programme brought fresh energy to our town with music, culture, and community gatherings that lit up the evenings.

Highlights included The Longford Sessions, which brought incredible live music to local venues, and the return of The Bingo to the historic Temperance Hall, a nostalgic favourite that drew a fantastic crowd and created a real sense of community spirit.

These events gave people more reasons to stay out, connect, and enjoy Longford after dark. Local businesses benefited too, with increased footfall and a stronger sense of vibrancy in the town centre.

The Night-Time Economy initiative is all about making Longford a safer, more welcoming place at night and The Evening Edit proved that when we invest in creativity and community, great things happen.

“The response from the public and local businesses has been fantastic,” said Karen Reilly, Night-Time Economy Advisor. “The Evening Edit shows what can be achieved when we work together to make Longford a vibrant, inclusive place after dark.”

With Night-Time Economy funding secured for next year, we’re excited to build on this success and welcome new ideas and collaborations that will keep Longford lively and inclusive all year round.
