'Legends' was a three-night show that took place in the school's gym, with dance, sketches and singing
Last week's 'Legends' in Moyne Community School was more than just a school performance. It was an experience to watch its pupils be encouraged to explore their creative talents and be seen on a professional stage. The evening did not just reminisce about legendary films and songs, but gave a platform for students across the years to build confidence.
Moyne has an impressive track record of producing and shaping legends. From Liam J Coyle (a climate ambassador); to Ross McNerney (Amble); and Cian McPhillips (athlete), the school has shown that by fostering talent and confidence, their students have been walking out as successes in their niches. There was a high indicator that there will be big names coming out of Moyne Community School in the future, as across the board from first years to sixths, there are clear signs that these students have plenty of potential.

Taking place between November 11-13, the doors of the school's gym unveiled an impressive, professional stage which was full of lighting, a raffle area and designated seats to cater to the audience who had pre-booked in advance for this highly anticipated show via online.
Principal of the school, Mr Desmond Cullen, was there at the doors to check and greet those who were entering. Several members of staff were present around the gym to facilitate the large audience.
“This show is bigger and better than two years ago,” said Mr Mulvey in the introduction. He also took part in two comedy sketches with students. There were 24 performances across two acts altogether.
‘Legends’ had a grand total of 128 sponsors listed at the back of their show programme, with big brands such as McDonalds, Supermacs and Omniplex Cinema included, as well as various local enterprises who wanted to give their support.
As of Wednesday, November 12, 1,450 out of 1,500 total tickets had been sold. Each night catered to 500 seats. General admission had cost €12.50. On top of this, there was a raffle prize worth €300 for each night for first prize, as well as smaller prizes. Raffle tickets, which cost €5 for a strip of three, were highly sought after with the reveal of the large hamper taking place just before the final performance.

In response to the show, and on behalf of Moyne Community School, Ms Siobhan O’Hara gave the following statement about how the nights went:
“The Legends Show has been a fantastic three nights that has really captured the essence of what Moyne is about. With such a talented community of students and staff, and unbelievable support from our senior management and the wider school community, it has been a wonderful three nights celebrating the abundance of talent in our school. We're already planning for the next one and we can't wait!”
Striving for excellence, it is safe to say that legends will continue to be made.
