RTÉ Radio 1 unveils 'vibrant new line-up' amid weekday schedule shake-up

RTÉ Radio 1’s new weekday schedule goes live this Monday 10 November. Reflecting the lives and interests of modern Irish audiences, the new schedule is designed with the daily lives of RTÉ Radio 1’s million-plus listeners in mind.

Speaking on the change, Tara Campbell, Head of RTÉ Radio 1 said: “The schedule brings fresh voices and sharp conversation in a vibrant new line-up. There are new presenters, new programmes and revised timeslots, all while maintaining RTÉ Radio 1’s known focus on reliable journalism and first-class entertainment.”

The all-new Today with David McCullagh will start each weekday morning at 9am. David will bring his distinctive sharp, skilled approach to breaking down the day’s top stories and news developments as they happen, with a variety of regular features including consumer advice, health and wellbeing, music, culture, science and technology and much more.

Moving to a brand-new slot at 11am, Oliver Callan will double the fun, delivering two hours of entertainment, blending insightful commentary with Oliver’s unique humorous flair. Oliver will be discussing trending topics, the latest goings on in sport, culture and music - and everything else that's matters to the listeners across the country, while bringing his inimitable bit of craic to it.

News at One, one of the most trusted and strongest news programmes in Ireland will continue to be presented by Rachael English every lunchtime, with a mix of the day’s top national, regional and international stories through a mix of live reports, interviews, political analysis and expert commentary.

Kieran Cuddihy will be taking your calls each day from 1.45pm on Liveline, getting to the heart of the discussions that truly matter to the people of Ireland. Over 40 years, Liveline has been on the frontline of Irish conversation and maintains its position as Ireland's number one public-access programme. Kieran will be facilitating listeners' opinions, concerns and stories as RTÉ Radio 1 continues the evolution of this iconic Irish institution.

Bringing live music, entertainment and exclusive chats, Louise Duffy will be on air from 3pm, with her trademark warmth and wit to ease listeners into the afternoon. Louise’s brand-new one-hour show presents a vibrant mix of live music, guests and unmissable entertainment, with plenty of surprises along the way.

Drivetime moves to the earlier time of 4pm, with new hosts Katie Hannon and Colm Ó Mongáin keeping you company each afternoon with the day's top stories, expert analysis and in-depth conversations covering news, politics, entertainment and culture.

Brand-new from 6pm is Inside Sport presented by Jacqui Hurley and Marie Crowe, a new early-evening sports show brings the latest news, previews and reactions, live updates and straight-talking insight from guests and pundits.

Arena and The John Creedon Show continue as a core part of RTÉ Radio 1’s weekday schedule, demonstrating RTÉ’s support of the arts. Following the sad death of our colleague Seán Rocks, a new presenter for Arena will be announced at a later date.

The Late Debate hosted by Cormac O' hEadhra will also continue to provide in-depth interviews and analysis of emerging political stories. The listening day will still close out with Late Date, bringing night owls a blend of music and good company.

Morning Ireland will continue to set the national agenda every morning with breaking news from 7am, delivering in-depth interviews and insightful discussion of the stories shaping Ireland and the world. RTÉ News & Current Affairs will announce new presenters to the radio news programmes in the coming weeks.
