Longford Library Services is calling on young readers across County Longford to enter this year's 'Design a Bookmark' competition, running throughout October as part of the Children's Book Festival.
Children aged 4–13 can submit original bookmark designs, with winning entries professionally printed and distributed across all six branch libraries in the county.

The competition features two age categories: 4–8 years and 9–13 years. One winning design will be selected from each category, giving young artists the opportunity to see their work shared with readers throughout County Longford.
Participants are encouraged to create bookmarks celebrating their passion for reading, with themes such as "I love books!" or "I love reading!" Entry forms are available at all local libraries, and completed entries must be returned to any branch by Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council Cllr Garry Murtagh said, "This competition showcases the wonderful creativity of our young people whilst encouraging a lifelong love of reading. I'm excited to see the imaginative designs our children will create, and I encourage all young artists in County Longford to take part."
