RTÉ ditches iconic owl as brand new Late Late Show logo unveiled

Ahead of its return to screens next month, RTÉ has opted to give The Late Late Show logo a refresh.

Alongside a new host at the helm in Patrick Kielty, the show will have a new logo too - and there is a noticeable absentee in the iconic owl that is synonymous with the show's opening credits.

The new logo, shared to social media on Friday, consists of bolded white font in a light blue circle, on a dark blue background.

The iconic owl had been used since the show began in 1962, and was named Gabriel in 2019 in honour of the late Gay Byrne.

As the show moves into the post-Ryan Turbidy era, it has been speculated that bosses are looking to make changes to the show's format.

It remains to be seen if Gabriel the owl will make the cut when the first episode of the new season airs on Friday, September 15.
