Superleague winner pays tribute to his former coach Mick Murphy

The loss of Longford’s ‘Mr Basketball’, Mick Murphy, who passed away earlier this year, was felt by many people.

The Co. Kerry native was the driving force behind successive generations of young basketballers in Longford.

The Longford Basketball Academy produced many basketballers since its inception in 1974 and Mick Murphy was a driving force behind it.

One of those young basketballers was Mark Reynolds. Mark won a Superleague title with the Eanna club last season.

Last weekend, he brought the trophy down to Longford. It was a poignant tribute to a coach who inspired Mark and so many others.

Mark will shortly be starting a new season with the Rathfarnham based club.
