RIP: North Longford mourns death of 'decent, genuine man' Michael Doherty

Late Michael Doherty, Barrack Street, Granard, Longford / Carndonagh, Donegal
A cloud of genuine sadness and regret decended on the parish of Granard, County Longford and much further afield when the news became known that Michael Doherty of Barrack Street, Granard had passed to his eternal reward following an illness bravely borne on Sunday, June 21 at the Hermitage Clinic, Dublin .
Beloved husband of Margaret, Michael was a native of Carndonnagh, Co Donegal and he will be sadly missed by sons John and Aaron, his brother and sisters in Donegal along with his mother in law Mrs Anna Lynch brother in law Michael Lynch.
Michael was a quiet man who just simply adored his family and he brought great kindness and love to them and indeed to his extended family and many friends.
A decent genuine man Michael had a great faith and with Margaret and Anna he attended Mass in St Mary's every weekend and many will have lovely memories of him speaking to them before or after Mass.
Michael's remains reposed in Smith's funeral home on Tuesday evening, June 23 and big crowds passed through to say a fond farewell to a much loved gentleman who was the "real salt of the earth" and to offer sincere sympathy to Margaret and the family.
On Wednesday, Michael's remains were removed from his home to St Mary's Church where his funeral Mass was celebrated and he was laid to rest in Granardkille New cemetery.
We extend heartfelt sympathy to Margaret, John and Aaron, to John's fiancee Emma, to his sisters Denise, Margaret, Kathleen and Frances, brother Danny and their families, mother in law Anna Lynch and family and his special friends Paul and Kathleen and to all who will miss his kindness and friendship. May he rest in peace.
