Longford Rugby Club has paid tribute to former player Bernard Bird of Lisduff, Longford Town, who passed away recently.
Members of Longford Rugby Club have paid tribute to Bernard Bird, remembering the former player as a life member and devoted supporter who rarely missed a game.
Bernard passed away peacefully in St James's Hospital Dublin last month following a short illness.
Described by the club as one of life’s true gentlemen, Bernard was part of a family that made a significant contribution to Longford Rugby Club over many years, both on and off the pitch.
In paying tribute yesterday, the club remembered how Bernard and his wife, Carmel, rarely missed a Longford game, adding that his absence from matches and around the clubhouse will be keenly felt by all.
The club extended its heartfelt condolences to Bernard’s wide Carmel, his children Stephen, Karen, Jason, David and Michelle, along with the extended Bird family.
