Fr Pat Lennon has many stories to tell including his priesthood journey, multiple hair-raising stories of brushes with death and his experiences in Zambia and Zimbabwe.

There was a great buzz of anticipation and excitement in Páirc na nGael, Dromard, on Sunday, July 19 as Fr Pat Lennon launched his book, ‘Come here a second till I tell you’.

Fr Pat, in his preface, explains the title and he certainly has many stories to tell.

The highlights of the book include his journey through priesthood, multiple hair-raising stories of brushes with death and his experiences while working in both Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Fr Pat also describes in an engaging fashion his many memories from his parish ministry in Carrick-on-Shannon, Athlone, Ballinahown, Ardagh and Dromard/Drumlish.

With the help of meticulously kept newspaper cuttings, the book records the vast array of experiences and circumstances in which priests are called upon to offer help and support to parishioners, as well as mediate in difficult situations.

Fr Pat is fulsome in his gratitude to all who helped him along his journey through priesthood, in particular to those in Leitrim and Longford who fund-raised for his missionary work.

The book is on sale in local outlets for €20 and the proceeds from the sales will be donated to two Longford charities: St Christopher’s Services and Meals on Wheels.

The book is available from Lyons Shop, Ardagh; Charles Kiernan, Centra Supermarket, Drumlish; Tom McGrath Texaco & Centra, ‘Red Cow’; Killoe c/o Mary McCormack; Presbytery, Longford; Kathryn McNerney, Fostra; Barney Cully, C/o Cully’s Bakery, Arva; Mulvey’s Shop, Carrick-on-Shannon and Willie Donnellan, Photographer, Leitrim Observer.
