Fantastic Arva Show attracts large crowd from Longford, Cavan and Midlands

Over 200 classes and plenty of cheer at Arva Agricultural Show as crowds watch Mayo triumph on big screen
The 67th annual Arva Show was held on Sunday last in the Show Field with the kind permission of Ms Philomena Fyfe.
The event, which was established in 1956, has been a fixture on the calendar of many people in the area and the surrounding counties over the years.
One year was lost due to the weather and two years due to Covid. Apart from the quality of exhibits on view it is where people go to meet old acquaintances and renew old friendships.
It featured over 200 classes for livestock (Horses, Ponies, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Poultry) along with Home Industries, Farm and Garden produce, Dog Show, Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and Gent and numerous Trade Stands.

The big screen was showing the All Ireland Final with a large attendance watching it.
The Cavan Rose, Grainne Byrne was among the attendees and we wish her well in the Rose of Tralee Final.
The committee made a presentation to four families who were bereaved during the year.
They comprised of Sinead Heatherton (nee Morrow) formerly Ballyhaise whose mother Nuala Sheridan was one of the founding members of the Show and Barbara McCabe, Cormore whose father was Alfie was a committee member for years.
The remaining committee members were Johnny Reilly, Skyrne, Co Meath whose father Vincent formerly of the 3 County Inn and Cormore was a long time worker at the show and Noel Reynolds, Cornadrung whose father in law Jim Moran was also a long time worker at the show.
The organisers said it was nice and appropriate that former members and workers are remembered by the committee.
The Show Dance that night featured music by The Rurals and was a great way to end a fabulous day.
There was a big attendance at the dance and everyone went home tired but happy.
