A delighted Eddie Valentine picked up the overall award for Pub of the Year in the Longford Arms Hotel last night.
In addition to seeing Valentines winning the main gong, The Spiral Tree won in the ‘Best Night Club’ category and Eddie was in nostalgiac mood recalling the first time he came to Longford in 1979. He also acknowledged the much acclaimed hot tub, which proved to be one of the jewels in the Valentine’s crown over the summer.
Among the other awards, Foleys Bar, last year’s winners, won for ‘Best Beer garden’ and came a close second to MB Coy’s in the ‘Best Live Entertainment’ category.
Mickey Lynch of McKeons Railway Bar raised one of the biggest cheers of the night when he won the ‘Bar Person of the Year’ award, as well as €250, and revealed he has previous experience of winning bartending awards.
The evening also saw John Moohan, a fixture in PV’s for over four decades, won the inaugural Hall of Fame award much to his surprise.
