The annual Helium Festival took place at Skelly’s Bar in Ballymahon on Saturday last. Now in its fourth year, the event has grown from a small 400-capacity affair to host almost 1,500 revellers and some of Ireland’s biggest musical acts. This year’s edition featured headline performances from Ash, Jape, Delorentos and Duke Special, alongside an impressive and diverse selection of local and national talent.
Speaking to the Longford Leader, Helium committee co-chairmen Barney Mulvihill and Michael Delaney highlighted the fact that it’s almost entirely run by volunteers and explained how the local community have embraced the event. They also underlined its importance in raising funds for Ataxia Ireland.
