Golf notes

Despite the cold weather on Thursday last it was refreshing to be ‘allowed out to play golf’, having been out of action for the past three Thursdays which was due to the downfall of rain on those three days!

Thirty-nine members took part in the Hamper competition last week and it was their performance in the weekly competition over the past year that was to decide which of the three hamper prizes they could win. Members who performed well on the day will have to agonise until Thursday next before it can be revealed who were the top performers ‘that got Hampered’ on the day! It’s worth noting that there were three birdies recorded over the 12 holes played: Pat Masterson on the 7th hole, Josie Connaughton on the 8th and Liam Noonan registered one on the 14th. Another few interesting statistics! No par recorded on the 1st, one par on the second by Kieran O’Brien, one on the 6th by Peter Duignan and another on the 9th by Ken Sheridan. Hopefully the weather will allow members to play nine holes of golf on this Thursday and this is to be followed by an introductory chat on health safety, which will be kindly given by Tommy Devlin. This is to be followed by the pre Christmas Santa Claus exercise which Club 55 members experience every year!

Driving Range

The Driving Range is open daily until 10pm and the ball machine takes 2 euro coins. The range has acquired new range balls and these will improve further the quality of the range.
