The under 12 girls continued their unbeaten record in the NEBL on Sunday last against a strong Killenkere team. Each of the Falcon players showed their ability not alone in attack using the fast breaks well but also in defence, leading the visitors 18-8 at the changeover. Fine scores came from Clodagh and Sarah Dillon, Orla Nevin, Emily Reilly and Kara Shannon. In the next two periods Falcons lifted the tempo with fast moves and fantastic defending by Annie Connell, Grace Connellan and Aine McWeeney. The determination of Longford Falcons continued and they added another 12pts with Cliodhna Mulligan and Kate Sweeney getting their names on the scoresheet. Final Score: Falcons 30 Killenkere 18

Falcons girls U-14s and U-16s suffer a severe blow to their chances in taking their respective league titles after failing to overcome Killinkere in their games. U-16 Girls: Longford Falcons 38 Killinkere 56. U-14 Girls Longford Falcons 25 Killinkere 29.

Longford Falcons Boys U-14 Basketball team took on local rivals Streete Warriors in their final league match of the year at The Mall on Sunday and won a tight contest by 4 points. It was nip and tuck throughout the final minutes but again Niall Flynn proved his worth, adding another 8 points to bring his total to 18.

Longford Falcons 16 Girls overcame Streete on Sunday last with a powerful display of teamwork and strength to win with considerable ease despite missing a few key players. 


FALCONS: Aishling Greene (27 points ), Tracey Dillon (10 points) Aishling Rooney (10 points), Sarah O’Boyle (4 points), Aoife Gordon (2 points), Aine Nevin (2 points), Niamh Smith (2 points), Rachel Dillon (2 points), Tara Nevin (2 points), Sarah Murphy (2 points).

Boys U-16: Longford Falcons....49 Streete Warriors . . . 45

It was a tough match-up for the Under 16 Boys team on Sunday last, facing up against top-of-the-table and local rivals Streete Warriors, but they produced a fine performance to win by 4 points with Joe Halligan the star of the show with 27 points to his credit. 
The fourth quarter saw both sides trading baskets and trading leads. The game was tied on a number of occasions with both sides desperate to come away with the win. Two free throws from John Birsanu tied the game at 41-41 and a fast break lay up from David Sheehan gave Falcons a two point lead. Streete came back strong, however, and tied the game again. The teams traded baskets once more and the game was tied at 45-45 with 1:27 remaining to play. With 56 seconds remaining, David Sheehan gave Falcons a two point lead, Oscar Mrozic then sealed the victory for the Longford side with an open layup on the fast break with 27 seconds to play.
